Victoria Beckham is opening up about her struggles with acne — and a number of other skin conditions.

On Wednesday, Sept. 3, the Spice Girls alum, 51, took to Instagram to show off her beauty brand’s new Foundation Drops, and opened up about wanting to formulate a product that could create a blurring effect to hide blemishes while also letting her skin breathe.

“I don’t like a foundation that’s too heavy. I like a foundation that’s going to last, a foundation that’s going to be flexible and move with my skin,” she said of the new product, showing how she applies dots of the makeup to her skin and pats it down before adding some liquid blush to create a clean, sleek look.

Beckham then opened up about her experience with acne and shared that she prefers using cosmetics and skincare products that don’t irritate her face.

“I’ve been very open about the fact that I have spent years struggling with my skin,” the Victoria Beckham Beauty founder said. “So, I want to make sure that I’m not gonna be putting anything on my skin that’s gonna irritate.”

“Because, like I said, I’ve spent so many years feeling so self-conscious because I’ve had bad acne. You name it, I feel like I’ve had it with my skin,” she shared. “So [we’re] really making sure that the formula is clean and not gonna irritate.”

Elsewhere in the promo, Beckham showed off how to apply the new product and opened up about sun damage to her skin.

“I have quite a lot of sun damage, so what I love about this formula is going to be covering that, almost giving like a blurred effect,” she said. “… It doesn’t even look like I’ve got foundation on. It just looks like I’ve got nice, healthy, fresh skin.”

“This is the first foundation that feels like nothing, yet truly does everything,” she captioned the clip in part. “We created The Foundation Drops for minimalists like me. The formula melts into your skin for a naturally flawless complexion and nourishes it with Augustinus Bader’s TFC8®️ technology as I wear it.”

Beckham has previously been candid about her struggles with skin conditions in the past. In 2022, she also spoke about her love for “clean” products on the Lipstick on the Rim podcast as she prepared to launch a slew of new Victoria Beckham Beauty products.

“I learned so much about those Spice Girl days,” Beckham said at the time. “Being on the stage and wearing a lot of makeup” helped her develop a keen eye for what she liked and what she didn’t when it came to beauty products, she said.

Speaking to The Telegraph in 2024, the fashion designer shared that some of her most severe acne issues came when she was in her 20s.

“It was because of my skin that I became very careful about what I ate,” she told the outlet, sharing that she eliminated meat and wheat from her diet.

“And yeah, probably I did look stern in a lot of pictures, but I was so uncomfortable,” she said, referring to her iconic steely pout.

“Was there a time when I used to scroll through all the comments about me? Probably,” she continued. “But now I just don’t have the time.”

“… If you’d told me a few years ago I’d step onto a red carpet to pick up an award wearing only a bit of concealer and no foundation, I’d have thought you were mad,” she added to the Telegraph. “But that’s what I did last week.”
