Michelle Williams Has Rare Date Night with Thomas Kail

Michelle Williams is red carpet ready!

The actress, 44, stepped out for a rare date night with husband Thomas Kail and attended the premiere of Hamilton at the Delacorte Theater in New York City on Sept. 3.

For the occasion, the Manchester by the Sea star hit the red carpet in an off-the-shoulder long-sleeve dress.

The bust and sleeves of the dress were covered in sequins and cut off into an empire waistline that sat just beneath her chest. The white skirt portion of the dress provided a bold contrast to the top and was covered in oversized black polka dots.

Williams went equally bold with her makeup for the screening. The actress completed the look with slicked-back hair parted down the middle and gathered into a bun, dark brown eyebrows and a punchy red lip that popped against the black and white of the dress.

The Dying for Sex actress accessorized the look with an oversized silver shell pendant necklace and black open-toe shoes.

Kail, 48, complemented his wife perfectly in a simple black suit, white button-down shirt — with a few buttons undone for a casual touch — and shiny black shoes.

Elsewhere during the red carpet, the couple shared sweet glances and smiled at each other in between camera flashes.

Inside the event, a PEOPLE source revealed that Williams “sat with Thomas for the first half” of the program and was “even spotted singing along at points.” Later, the actress caught up with Busy Philipps, whom she also posed with on the red carpet.

“She looked genuinely happy to be there and like she was having a ball,” the source added.

Williams and Kail’s last red carpet date night took place on April 2 for the premiere of Dying for Sex.

The couple’s rare red carpet date night comes amid the two recently expanding their family. A source exclusively told PEOPLE on April 3 that the couple quietly welcomed a third child together (Williams’ fourth) via surrogate six weeks prior, and were enjoying time together in N.Y.C. as a family.

“They couldn’t be happier to expand their family, and [Williams’ daughter] Matilda has been doting on her younger siblings,” the source said at the time.

The outing also comes after Williams thanked her surrogate during her Aug. 17 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, guest-hosted by Tiffany Haddish.

During their conversation, Haddish, 45, remarked that Williams looked like she had never given birth to any children.

“Then I’ve got to give a big shout out to Christine, cuz this last baby did not come through my body,” Williams responded. “But the miracle of our little girl is thanks to Christine. Maybe you’re watching out there; thank you, Christine.”

She continued, adding, “Thanks to Christine, I have three under 5 at home.”

The Dying for Sex star gave birth to her eldest child, a 19-year-old daughter named Matilda Rose Ledger, with the late Heath Ledger, in October 2005. In 2020, Williams and Kail welcomed their son, Hart Kail. The couple’s third child arrived two years later in 2022.
