Chiefs head coach Andy Reid says Travis Kelce is ready for the first game of the season.

Reid, 67, spoke to media in Brazil on Thursday, Sept. 4 ahead of the Chiefs’ first game of the season, where the head coach told reporters, including PEOPLE, that newly-engaged Kelce, 35, is in a “good, good place” after a very eventful offseason.

“He’s working very hard this training camp and in the offseason and I know he looks forward to getting started,” Reid, who knew Taylor Swift even before her fiancé did, added of his star tight end.

Amid all of the excitement in the offseason, Reid said he’s seen “no differences” in the way Kelce is approaching his success on the field.

Kelce also addressed his engagement to Swift, 35, during the Sept. 4 presser after being asked how his “life has changed” and if it’s difficult to “focus” on the field. The NFL star adorably said, “I got one more ring from it,” he joked, clarifying, “Well, two if we’re counting the first Super Bowl.”

“I would say, ever since I’ve been dating Taylor life has been fun… It’s been exciting,” Kelce continued. “Obviously a lot more eyes and I accept that, but I’m living life. Living on a high, I guess.”

Kelce, who announced the engagement news alongside Swift on Aug. 26, spoke about the happy news on the Sept. 3 episode of New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce.

“In case you missed the Instagram post heard ’round the world, Travis and Taylor are engaged! Yay!” Jason, 37, declared.

“That’s right, that’s right,” Travis said. “And I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on. It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with.”

Kelce and the Chiefs will play the Los Angeles Chargers in São Paulo, Brazil on Sept. 5 to kick off the new season. The game will be streaming live on YouTube starting at 8 p.m. ET.
