6 Bag Charms to Buy Now If You Can’t Get Your Hands on a Labubu

When Labubus were popularized by BLACKPINK rapper Lisa in April 2024 (though the toy has been around since 2015), they seemed, to many, outlandish and downright strange.

But the more they’ve permeated the zeitgeist (RihannaKim Kardashian and David Beckham have all been seen sporting the creepy-cute creature), the more the concept of bag charms makes sense. After all, what better way is there to cope with life’s stressors than a silly little accessory swinging from your bag? It’s certainly cheaper than therapy.

It just feels like fashion has been so serious for so long. Remember the early 2000s, when we wore butterfly clips and blue eyeshadow with reckless abandon? I’m of the firm belief that the bag charm trend is our collective (and perhaps subconscious) effort to reclaim the whimsy of a simpler time — and I’m all for it.

However, aside from becoming increasingly hard to come by, Labubus aren’t for everyone. I personally am not totally down with the idea of toting around a slightly menacing creature on a day-to-day basis, but I am after the simple joy and silliness that a Labubu evokes.

If character charms are your thing, though, might I suggest these adorable finds from Pop Mart, the main source for Labubus and other similarly whimsical toys: this Powerpuff Girls-inspired charm that’s perfect for when you need a good cry, these mini character charms that feature fun animal shapes, or this adorable charm that doubles as a coin purse.
