Lily Collins Is ‘Grateful’ for Husband Charlie McDowell on 4th Wedding Anniversary

Lily Collins is sharing just how much husband Charlie McDowell means to her on their fourth anniversary.

The Emily in Paris star, 36, paid tribute to McDowell, 42, for being a such a committed husband and father on Instagram as the pair celebrated their wedding anniversary. The actress also noted how “lucky” she was to have him as a “partner.”

In a post she shared on Thursday, Sept. 4, the actress posted a snap of a polaroid taken during their wedding, in which the couple could be seen smiling at each other. Collins wore a white wedding dress as she looked lovingly at her husband, who laughed while holding their dog.

A second photo showed McDowell holding their daughter Tove Jane up toward the edge of the ocean as they had a family beach day. Their dog could also be seen in the shot trotting alongside the pair.

“Four years ago I married my best friend, and today, we not only have our steadfast buddy @redforddog but our newest and most magical bestie T,” Collins wrote, referring to their daughter. “I cannot express how lucky I feel to be yours every single day.” 

“Thank you for being the most incredible dad, wonderful husband, supportive partner, and inspiring other half. You go above and beyond in our family — it’s the big picture things but it’s really, most importantly, the daily little things you do that blow my mind,” she continued. 

“I couldn’t have worked, let alone functioned, these past few months without you stepping in and up as you have. With the highs and lows, your steadfast love gets me through and I never could have imagined a life or partnership like ours. To think it’s just the beginning, grateful doesn’t even begin to describe it. I love you beyond,” she concluded her post.

If that post wasn’t enough, she also shared another one, this time showing her looking back at the cameras as she held Tove Jane in her arms. The pair appeared to be in a rural area surrounded by grass and hay bales.

“Happy 4 years married, my love. Being a parent with you has been the greatest joy of my life. I love you,” she captioned that photo.

Collins and McDowell initially sparked dating rumors in July 2019 and made their relationship Instagram official a month later. They eventually got engaged in 2020 and tied the knot a year later in Dunton, Colorado.

Collins celebrated the nuptials by sharing a photo of them kissing at the altar, writing, “I’ve never wanted to be someone’s someone more than I do yours, and now I get to be your wife. On September 4th, 2021 we officially became each other’s forever. I love you beyond @charliemcdowell…”

In January 2025, the couple announced the arrival of their first child, daughter Tove Jane, whom they welcomed via surrogate. She captioned the Instagram  post, “Welcome to the center of our world Tove Jane McDowell.”
