A Russian mother of two died last week after falling nearly 300 feet while attempting to take a selfie following a bungee jump, officials reportedly said.

The incident occurred on Saturday, Aug. 30, according to a translated statement on Telegram from the country’s Investigative Committee.

The woman was identified by her bungee jumping group, 23BLOCK, as Elizaveta Gushchina.

“Under tragic circumstances, experienced jumper and mother of two children Liza passed away. Elizaveta Gushchina, together with her son Nikita, is a member of our sports team,” the organization wrote in a post on Russian social networking site Vkontakte, according to a translation.

“Now the whole team is mourning this loss,” the group continued. “This is a very big tragedy for us.”

The Investigative Committee said Gushchina, whom authorities did not identify by name, “arrived at an unfinished boiler house with a chimney in the city of Pavlovsk in St. Petersburg to perform the jumps.”

“After completing the jump, she climbed the chimney to take a photo, where she slipped and fell from a height. The injuries she sustained were fatal,” the committee said.
