Derek Hough Shares If He and Pregnant Wife Hayley Will Reveal Baby’s Sex

Derek Hough is excited to be a dad – but he won’t be sharing if he’s having a boy or girl anytime soon.

The Dancing with the Stars alum, 40, appeared on a Wednesday, Sept. 3 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark and spoke about how he’s expecting his first baby with his wife, Hayley Erbert Hough. As he shared how excited he is for this next chapter, Hough was asked by Mark Consuelos about his sex reveal, which is in black and white.

“Yeah. You know, there’s not a lot of surprises in life, right? We’re going to keep that one to ourselves,” Hough explained. “So yeah, it’s going to be exciting. Can’t wait.”

When asked by Kelly Ripa why they decided to find out for themselves, Hough says that his wife Erbert is “Type A.”

“She’s like, ‘That closet is ready to go, the clothes are ready.’ She wants to know what’s going on,” Hough explained.

Earlier this week, Erbert Hough posted a video on her Instagram where she went over a few old wives’ tales that are said to determine if you’re having a girl or a boy. Wearing a body con yellow dress, Erbert Hough could be seen answering questions in the video.

“What will Baby Hough be?! 🩷💙,” she asked in her caption.

Back in July, Hough and his wife announced they’re expecting their first baby together, sharing the exciting news with a sweet video on Instagram.

In the heartwarming clip, Hough walked over to his wife and the two embraced while overlooking a scenic view. As they hugged, Erbert Hough flashed a strip of sonogram photos at the camera as the couple smiled and swayed in the sunlight.

“We can’t believe the biggest thing to happen to us could be so small ♥️,” the couple captioned their joint video post.

In September 2024, Hough spoke to E! News about how he and his wife were looking forward to expanding their family dance crew with a few little ones.

“We definitely want to have a family eventually,” he told the outlet. “We’ll see what’s in the cards, what’s on the horizon. Little dancing children running around.”
