A British teenager has been arrested and charged with manslaughter after a 25-year-old woman died from falling out an apartment window last week.
Tia Langdon died at a local hospital last Thursday afternoon after falling from the window at an apartment building in Southampton, England, officials with the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary said in a news release this week.
Local authorities announced that an 18-year-old Southampton man, Jaiden Hassan-Agard, has now been charged with manslaughter, as well as a range of other charges including making threats to kill, false imprisonment, and threatening with an offensive weapon in a private place.
Police believe there was another woman in the apartment with Langdon and Hassan-Agard at the time of Langdon’s death and claim that the additional charges Hassan-Agard face are also related to his alleged interactions with the second woman. He is also being accused by authorities of kidnapping that woman.
It’s unclear what events led to Langdon’s death Aug. 28.
Hassan-Agard was due in court on Wednesday morning after being taken into custody on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
The BBC reported that Hassan-Agard appeared at the Southampton Magistrates’ Court while floral tributes continued to be laid out on the street where Langdon fell in the days since she plunged to her death.
The Metro UK reported that Langdon’s family members have since spoken out on social media, mourning the 25-year-old’s death.
“RIP to my big sister,” Langdon’s younger sister wrote in a social media post, according to the outlet. “I love you forever and always, thank you for always making me laugh. Every time you were around, you always said you were proud of me, even if it was the littlest thing. Thank you for being my big sister forever and always.”
