Nicole Eggert Shares Her Recovery Plan Following Her Mastectomy

Nicole Eggert continues to open up about her ongoing struggle with stage 2 cancer.
During the recent episode of the Baywatch alum’s podcast, Perfectly Twisted, she explained how she and her daughter both underwent surgery last week. She did not specify which of her daughters, nor their exact surgery. Her daughters are Dilyn, 27, whom she shares with Justin Herwick, and Keegan, 14; she has not revealed the identity of her father.
Eggert, 53, underwent a mastectomy and breast reconstruction surgery on Thursday, Aug. 28. She first shared her breast cancer diagnosis with PEOPLE in January, explaining that, after having “terrible pain” in her left breast and gaining 25 lbs. In three months, she’d been told she had a rare form of stage 2 cribriform carcinoma breast cancer.
But during the Monday, Sept. 1, Perfectly Twisted episode, she detailed the initial recovery days. “I’ve had a lot of time to watch TV. That’s been fun,” she explained to her co-host Dave Palet. “I got a couple days to just lie there and and watch garbage and take painkillers and it was a good time.”
As the podcast came to an end, Eggert remarked on how “excited” and “happy” she is to have the surgery completed. “It was one of those surgeries that it was like so long overdue.”

On Friday, Aug. 29, she revealed via Instagram that she had undergone the surgeries, writing, “Had a mastectomy with reconstruction on Thursday. How was ur weekend?”
In the photo, Eggert wears a black compression bra and white panties.
When the Charles in Charge alum first shared her diagnosis with PEOPLE, she admitted how desperately she wanted the tumor removed.
“I have panics where I’m like, just get this out of me,” she told PEOPLE at the time. “You sit there and it’s in you and you’re like, every second that passes and it’s inside of me. It’s growing, and you’re just like, you just want it out.”

The day before her surgery, on Wednesday, Aug. 27, she told PEOPLE that she’s “good” — but “I am in sort of a gray area and I finished my treatment, waiting for more imaging and hopefully maybe surgery.”
“So it felt positive and I was like, okay, I’m doing something positive,” Eggert continued. “And now that it’s just like nothing, it’s like, well wait a minute. We got to get this out. So it’s just frustrating.”
