An adventurous cat enjoyed his trip to a pub in the U.K. so much that he decided to travel more than 30 miles to visit a second time after being returned to his owners.

Peanut the cat surprised the staff at the Vat & Fiddle taproom when he turned up at the Nottingham, U.K., watering hole on July 9. He did so after disappearing from the home of his owners, Charley Rawlings and Sam Bharma, over 30 miles away in Lincolnshire, U.K., according to reporting by the Daily Mail.

While hanging out at the bar, the feline became a local social media sensation, appearing in numerous posts from Vat & Fiddle. While Peanut got to know the regulars at the establishment, the team at Castle Rock Brewery, which is associated with the taproom, attempted to find his owners.

“Here is our new furry friend that has been visiting the pub in the past few weeks. Why don’t you come in and see if you can spot her about the pub?!” one post on the Vat and Fiddle’s Facebook page read alongside photos of Peanout cozying up to patrons and bar furniture.

Peanut reportedly enjoyed his time at the bar, interacting with guests and earning the nickname Screech for his distinctive meow.

After attempts to locate Peanut’s owners on social media were unsuccessful, the staff visited a vet, where they learned that the cat had a microchip loaded with their owners’ contact information. From there, the vets were able to make contact with Rawlings and Bharma.

When the call came in, Rawlings told the Daily Mail that they expected the worst. However, they were thrilled to learn that Peanut was safe.

“Staff at the vets said he had been staying at a brewery, so I just typed on Facebook’ Nottingham cat brewery’ and all the posts they had been making came up!” she revealed.

Rawlings rushed to the comments section of one post to react to the news.

“This is our lovely boy Peanut, thank you so much for helping us find him! he got to you all the way from lincoln and he turned one whilst he was missing so at least he was able to spend his birthday in a pub like you’re suppose to, we are so happy to have him home after the month, thank you for looking after him,” she wrote.

Castle Rock celebrated the happy reunion on Facebook, noting that the furry guest had “completely stolen our hearts.”

“We’ll miss you, Peanut. Thanks for being part of the team – even if just for a little while,” the bar wrote.

After retrieving Peanut, his owners attempted to put a collar on him in case he ever got lost again. However, the pet wasn’t interested in the neckwear, but was intrigued about revisiting the pub.

Just a few weeks after Peanut left the brewery and taproom, Castle Rock took to Facebook to reveal that Peanut had managed to sneak out for a second trip to the business.

“Some of you might remember Peanut — our furry visitor from Lincoln who even celebrated his first birthday at the Vat and Fiddle,” the brewery wrote, adding, “Well… he made a surprise return to the brewery on Friday!”

“Looks like Peanut came back to cash in his loyalty points!” the brewery joked, adding, “Luckily, we were able to reunite him with his owners once again. Here’s hoping he stays put at home this time (though we did love seeing him again!).”

Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live, warehouse manager Simon Belshaw said that he “heard [Peanut] before I saw him.”

There were conflicting theories about how Peanut managed to make it to the bar not once but twice. Noting the distance that he traveled, Rawlings said the cat’s traveling ways remain “a total mystery.”

“You hear of cats going missing and turning up miles from home – but not a cat doing it twice and to the same location,” she said.

When Peanut pulled his second escape act, his owners knew where to look and handled Peanut’s disappearance in a joking manner.

“We’ll know where he’ll be – back at the Vat and Fiddle,” they told the Daily Mail.

Taproom general manager Danny Storer stressed that they enjoyed having a visitor, saying that Peanut “is always very welcome.”

“But I’m not sure his parents are thrilled with his habit!” he joked.
