TikTok Comedian Sanku Dies in Car Crash

Nigerian TikTok comedian Sanku died in a car crash on Monday, Sept. 1.

According to Daily Post, a Nigerian newspaper, the content creator was in a fatal car accident on Oyo-Ogbomoso Road in Ibadan, Nigeria. The outlet reported that photos and videos of the scene, depicting a vehicle that had crashed into a ditch, circulated on social media after the incident. 

Per Daily Post, the internet personality was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead several hours later.

Sanku, who began posting on TikTok in 2021, maintained a following of over 1.9 million people. His account regularly featured skits and other comedic content.

Shortly after Sanku’s death was made public, several peer creators came to the platform to confirm the news and remember the late creator.

“Rest in peace 🪦 😣” creator Jidex Klothing captioned an emotional tribute he posted to TikTok.

“💔🕊️ My beloved 💐🕊️” TikToker Eregele wrote in the caption of a montage of his videos with the late internet personality. 

“The pain, the effort, the strength, the struggle… Walai nothing makes sense,” wrote Nollywood actress Funmi Awelewa on Instagram of Sanku’s death. “I’m heartbroken😢”

In the star’s final post before his death, Sanku overlaid a video of him lip-syncing to the Haeman song “Iremiade” alongside creator Krish Richie with the text, “When it’s time for us to enjoy wat we worked hard for may we never lost our life😩🙏”

In the comments of the video, fans posted tributes to the late influencer and reacted to the tragic news.

“Why so soon Sanku 💔” wrote one.

“We make plans for life, but none of us knows what life has planned for us🤦‍♂️God why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!💔💔💔💔” another posted.

Penned a third: “Rest well legend 💔😔”
