New evidence photos have been released by Idaho State Police of the apartment Bryan Kohberger lived in when he murdered four University of Idaho students.

The former criminology student was being housed in an on-campus residence at Washington State University, where he had been pursuing a doctoral degree.

Over 500 images were released from inside Kohberger’s apartment and obtained by PEOPLE, showing everything from his textbooks and exams to hair follicles and possible blood stains.

There are also multiple images of the birthday cards Kohberger received less than two weeks after the murders when he turned 28 on Nov. 21, 2022.

Both cards are in envelopes devoid of any postage markings or stamps, which suggests they were sent as part of a larger package.

The first card appears to be from Kohberger’s mother and father.

“A son leaves your home but never leaves your heart. He discovers his own happiness which, in turn, becomes yours,” reads the card.

The inside of the card is redacted in the photos, but the envelope it came in can be seen covered in hand-drawn hearts and reads: “Happy Birthday Bryan!”

It is unclear who the second card is from, but the most likely assumption is one of the killer’s two sisters given how few contacts were discovered in his phone by the team of digital forensics experts who previously spoke with PEOPLE.

That card is addressed to “Bryeeerrnnn.” There is also a note written on the back of the card, which seems to confirm reports that Kohberger is a germaphobe, as it reads: “I did not lick it b/c #covid.”

The cover of the card features a cartoon depiction of former president Theodore Roosevelt riding a dinosaur along with the quote: “Speak softly and carry a big stick. Unless you can ride a dinosaur. Then do that instead.”

The sender then drew two arrows pointing to both the dinosaur and Roosevelt, calling them his “egos.” That person went on to write: “You are a dino + professor LMAO.”

Inside the card, the individual wrote what appears to say “Bryem,” the date “11/21/22” and drew a smiley face in blue highlighter.

The rest of the card is redacted except for a pre-printed punchline, which reads: “Happy birthday! Celebrate like a boss!”

At that time, Kohberger had already started to keep a low profile as the murders he committed on Nov. 13, 2022 had become one of the biggest news stories in the country.

It would remain that way until his arrest a little over a month later while he was at his parents’ Pennsylvania home for the holidays.

Kohberger’s mother, whom he called just after committing the murders, and his sister were both present in July as he was sentenced to serve four lifetimes in prison after he confessed to killing Madison Mogen, 21; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Ethan Chapin, 20.

Despite that confession, Kohberger has refused to publicly reveal his motive for stabbing the four young college students to death.
