NYC jewelers insist Travis Kelce would’ve gotten a better deal on Swift’s engagement ring with them
He could’ve gotten a deal better than his wildest dreams.
New York City jewelers insisted Tuesday that Travis Kelce could have paid a much lower price for Taylor Swift’s massive engagement ring if the football star visited Midtown’s Diamond District.
“They should have called me! I would have given them half that price. I like the football player, I like his brother [Jason Kelce] who used to play for the Eagles, too,” Luminous Diamonds owner Bobby Samanoglu, 72, said a day after the famous couple announced their engagement.
The custom rock is an old mine cushion cut diamond, and could be somewhere around eight carats.
Designed by jeweler Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine, one jeweler told Page Six the ring could be valued as high as $1 million while a Jared Jewelers vice president of merchandising estimated the price tag at around $500,000.
While the exact price the Kansas City Chiefs tight end paid for the ring wasn’t known, Big Apple jewelers insisted they would have offered him a better bargain.
Moses the Jeweler told The Post he could have possibly saved Kelce a bundle and sold him the bling for about $400,000.
“Most of the time celebrities want something unique. So he went with something hard to find, in that quality, that cut. But that’s what celebrities want. They already have everything in the world. They want something unattainable, unique,” the 29-year-old said inside his store at 47th Street,” he said. “It’s like a piece of art.”
“So even if he did over pay, if you go to auction, they could get 10 times what he paid,” he continued. “Because when they put their hands on it, their name is tied to it, the price, you know, they could do well at the end of the day.”
Ephraim Malidani, of Malidani Jewelry, said Kelce “probably overpaid” because of his celeb status.
“They get taken advantage of,” he said, speaking generally. “They buy brand names and they pay over 400% premium.”
He described the ring as “very art deco” with an old mine cut style providing good bang for your buck.
“It looks a lot larger than it is,” Malidani, 47, said.
Celebrity jeweler Moshe Haimoff, “The Watch King” also said he could have offered up a more competitive price for the rock.
“But again, you overpay when you love someone,” he said. “But of course I would’ve gotten him a way better deal.”
Swift and Kelce started dating in 2023 before unveiling the next big step in their relationship Tuesday.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” the two wrote in a joint Instagram post.
And while the ring most certainly cost a hefty price, a similar sparkle wouldn’t be unattainable to other New Yorkers with deep pockets.
Malidani, the jeweler with the store with his namesake, was ready to service any customers that wants a ring like Swift’s.
“If they mention the New York Post will give them a 10% discount,” he quipped.
