Meghan Trainor looks unrecognizable in new TikTok video
Pop star Meghan Trainor looks truly unrecognizable in a new video posted to social media today.
The pop star, who shot to fame with the 2014 global smash and body positivity anthem All About That Bass, has undergone a dramatic slim-down in recent months.
Still, this new video of the star taking part in a viral video challenge had many fans questioning if it was really her.
Trainor looked slimmer than ever as she balanced precariously on an upturned dumbbell for the “Nicki Minaj High School challenge,” which sees those who take part balance on random objects as they cross their legs and stand on one foot – and all in heels.
It’s a challenging physical feat, and it’s already led to at least one serious injury: earlier this month, a Russian influencer broke her spine while attempting to do the challenge on a kitchen counter, but crashed onto the floor.
“Never again,” was Trainor’s caption of her video, suggesting she was happy to have completed the challenge safely.
While she turned off the comments on her post, Trainor’s video soon gained traction on other social media platforms with a very different caption: Namely, some variation of the question “THAT’S Meghan Trainor?”
“No way this is Meghan Trainor,” one person wrote under a viral repost of the video.
“Guess she’s not all about that bass anymore,” said another, referencing her dramatic weight loss since releasing that song (sample lyric: “You know I won’t be no stick-figure, silicone Barbie doll”).
Another said the star, wearing a high ponytail in the video, now looked more like Ariana Grande.
Trainor, 31, previously opened up about losing weight, sharing that she lost 27kg after finding herself in a “really dark place” after welcoming her first child, Riley, with husband Daryl Sabara in 2021.
“I was, like, over 200 pounds [90kg] when I C-sectioned him out,” she told ET Canada in 2022.
“I just wasn’t feeling great. I’ve never had stitches, so to have this C-section scar, I was in a really dark place and I wanted to be in a great place for my son.”
She opened up further about her weight loss during a red carpet interview in April.
“Science is the secret. I love it,” she told an ET reporter.
“I learned a lot of tricks that I had no idea [about]. I was working out so incorrectly for so long. I was running and doing cardio and my body was inflamed, always. Hates it.”
Trainor said she is all for trying to “biohack my body” and loves a “doctor explaining stuff to me”.
“So anything that’ll help me age backward, I’m into it,” she added.
In January, the pop star also revealed to People that she underwent a breast augmentation because she had always wanted “cutie boobies” since she was a teenager.
“I noticed with my new boobies, it’s helping so much,” she told the magazine.
“I always tell myself, I’m like, ‘Girl, I am a female. Look at these boobies.’ I feel so girly, and I love it, and it makes me so much more confident, and it’s like the best decision I ever made. And I smile every time I shower.”
“It can help your confidence so much if you want – or you’re beautiful and perfect as you are, whatever makes you happiest. These are the boobs of my dreams.”
