Three things to watch in Jets’ preseason finale

Here’s what to look for in the Jets’ third preseason game against the Eagles on Friday at MetLife Stadium:

Backup plan

Tyrod Taylor is still recovering from knee surgery.

The Jets expect him back for Week 1 but they may need insurance.

Can Adrian Martinez or Brady Cook be that guy?

Both have had moments in training but neither has really grabbed the third quarterback spot.

They should get plenty of playing time in this one.

Wide-open competition

The most interesting position heading into cutdown day Tuesday is wide receiver.

Jamaal Pritchett, Brandon Smith and Quentin Skinner have all made a case for a roster spot.

Xavier Gipson has been on the team for the last two years but has missed time in camp with a shoulder injury.

They all could use a good showing against the Eagles.

Chance to tackle

The Jets made two trades for defensive tackles this week.

That ratchets up the pressure on the guys at the position trying to make the team.

Leonard Taylor, Derrick Nnadi and Payton Page are all fighting for roster spots.
