Aaron Boone’s flub with Aaron Judge flip-flop rankled Yankees
The crazy thing about Aaron Boone saying in radio interviews that Aaron Judge’s elbow wouldn’t be back to 100 percent this year is that Boone is known for putting the best spin possible on things, not the worst possible.
Not only is Judge saying the opposite, that he expects to be back in right field, some in the organization suggest he could be back during this weekend’s Red Sox series, or shortly thereafter.
Neither Judge nor the front office was pleased Boone made his negative public pronouncement, forcing him to backtrack. That’s another thing Boone is normally great at: maintaining a superb relationship with star players and bosses.
Here’s one person’s best evidence this isn’t Boone’s year: He picked Jonathan Aranda over Bobby Witt Jr. for the All-Star Game swing-off. (The NL won.)
