When Does ‘Beauty in Black’ Return? Netflix Unveils The Trailer For Season 2 of The Tyler Perry Drama

With power, comes great responsibility… and a conniving family ready to take it out from under you.

At least that’s the case in Season 2 of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black, which premieres on Netflix on Thursday, Sept. 11. The streamer dropped the trailer for its sophomore season, which sees Kimmie (Taylor Polidore Williams)—previously a sex worker trying to make ends meet—now at the helm of the Bellarie family’s empire thanks to Horace Bellarie (Ricco Ross), whom she marries at the end of Season 1, Part 2.

“Kimmie, this company is all yours,” Horace tells Kimmie at the start of the nearly two-minute-long trailer. “But if you don’t take it, well, they will.”

By “they,” he means his ruthless relatives, among whom are his ex-wife Olivia (Debbi Morgan), his sons Roy (Julian Horton) and Charles (Steven G. Norfleet), his brother Norman (Richard Lawson), and Roy’s wife Mallory (Crystle Stewart).

“There’s a new Bellarie in charge, but in this family, power isn’t given, it’s taken,” Netflix teases in its Season 2 trailer announcement.

Other stars returning to the series are Amber Reign Smith Xavier Smalls, Terrell Carter, Bryan Tanaka, and Charles Malik Whitfield. Season 2’s guest stars include Bailey Tippen, Randall J. Bacon, Greg Clarkson, Ace Small, George Middlebrook, Kajanee Smith, Ann Marie Gideon, Brandon Rush and Larry Herring.

Tippen, who plays Kimmie’s younger sister, Sylvie, spoke with DECIDER last spring about Season 1’s “powerful ending,” noting that she “love[s] the fact that Kimmie got almost a fairytale.”

“Finally something good happens after she finds her sister and has gone through this tragedy of a life,” she added at the time. “I’m really optimistic about what can happen for Season 2. Tyler Perry has also teased a spoiler for the people with Jules in office and Kimmie in office. So it looks like it’s heading in that direction, which I’m looking forward to seeing.”
