Justin Fields-Garret Wilson combo a bright spot on rainy Jets day

Observations from Jets practice at training camp on Wednesday:

Fields’ day

QB Justin Fields and WR Garrett Wilson were in sync, combining on five completions, including a 10-yard touchdown pass on a slant, despite rainy conditions. Overall, it was a solid day for Fields, though he was picked off by CB Brandon Stephens on a pass intended for TE Mason Taylor.

The weather made it difficult, but the team’s new starting quarterback put together a few strong drives. He finished off one possession with a rushing score on a designed rush.

Brady looks Cook’d

Brady Cook, battling Adrian Martinez to be the team’s No. 3 quarterback, struggled.

He was inaccurate, was picked off by rookie S Malachi Moore on a ball knocked down at the line of scrimmage and also couldn’t get a snap off in time, resulting in a delay of game penalty.

Caught my eye

Despite a steady rain, the Jets practiced outside. There was also crowd noise pumped into a majority of 11-on-11 team drills to simulate a road environment.

Injury report

CB Sauce Gardner didn’t practice. The Jets said he’s fine, a day after he was “kicked in the leg,” according to coach Aaron Glenn.
