Who Is Blake On ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’? Meet Carson Blyskal

The Summer I Turned Pretty fans knew that a new season would mean a slew of new characters, but Season 3, Episode 7 introduced someone who fans of the books weren’t even expecting: Blake.

So far in The Summer I Turned Pretty‘s third and final season, viewers met Belly’s college pal Anika (Sofia Bryant), Jeremiah’s frat bro Redbird (Tanner Zagarino), Conrad’s go-to Stanford gal Agnes (Zoé De Grand’Maison), Taylor’s mom Lucinda (Kristen Connolly), Steven’s colleague Denise (Isabella Briggs), and Adam’s secretary Kayleigh (Emma Ishta). But in Season 3, Episode 7, “Last Hurrah,” when Belly and Jeremiah’s friends headed to the beach house to kick off the wedding celebrations, we met two more of Jere’s pals: Ethan (Seydou Maiga), and a particularly intriguing Blake (Carson Blyskal).

So who is Blake on The Summer I Turned Pretty? Was Blake in TSITP books? And what do we know about Carson Blyskal, the actor who plays Blake?

Here’s what to know about the new character, Blake’s history with Jeremiah, and whether or not Blake in Jenny Han’s third book, We’ll Always Have Summer.

Who Is Blake In The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3?

As noted above, Blake first appears in The Summer I Turned Pretty in Season 3, Episode 7. Shortly after Belly and Jere’s friends arrive at the beach house, Blake asks about beer pong, and we later see him hanging by the pool with the guys. While the girls are chatting, Anika asks which of Jere’s friends are single, and Belly breaks it down, saying, “I think Ethan. Blake is Jere’s ex, and Redbird’s got dibs.”

When Anika replies, “Hold up, you’re OK with Jere having his ex at his bachelor party?” the girls quickly determine that “Belly does not have a leg to stand on,” since she dated Jere’s brother. And though everyone quickly moves on, I’M still curious about JERE’S EX, BLAKE!

While this is the first time we’ve seen Blake on screen, it’s not the first mention of his character on the show. As ScreenRant noted, back in Season 2, Jere casually mentioned that he went to homecoming with someone named Blake! While fans may not have thought too much of it at the time, it seems Jenny Han may have been carefully laying some breadcrumbs for a future introduction. Earlier in the series, we also learned that Jere is bisexual, and Blake’s proper introduction now confirms that he dated a guy before his relationship with Belly.

Was Blake In The Summer I Turned Pretty Books?

Now that we’ve established Blake’s history on the show, you’re likely wondering if Blake is in TSITP books and if the text offers any additional context or intel into his character. The answer? No! Like several other characters in the series, Blake appears to be solely crafted for the show. So even fans of the books have no idea what Han has in store for Blake’s character in Season 3.

Ahead of Episode 307, some fans were wondering if Jeremiah and Redbird might end up together at the end of the series, should his wedding not pan out. But if Blake is back in the picture, could he and Jere potentially rekindle a relationship down the line?! Belly and Jere’s wedding is still on as of 307! So we’ll have to wait and see. Until then, let’s learn more about the actor who plays Blake, shall we?
