Kirsten Dunst reveals son had ‘extremely frightening’ health scare while she was filming overseas
Kirsten Dunst revealed that she and husband Jesse Plemons — along with their sons, James, 4, and Ennis, 7 — had settled into a rented house in Budapest when James’ health rapidly deteriorated.
Dunst, who was filming “The Entertainment System Is Down” overseas at the time, declined to give details on the incident, stressing that while it was an “extremely frightening” time, “everyone is fine now.”
However, she told Town & Country that the preschooler’s health scare was stressful enough to send Plemons and their sons back to the family’s support system in Los Angeles while she completed filming on her own.
The “Spider-Man” actress divulged that following the incident, she experienced fear akin to the movie “‘Final Destination,’ where you’re imagining all the things that could go wrong, worst case scenarios happening to your child.”
Though she admitted she’s “never seen that movie,” Dunst said she knows “the concept.”
“That’s how it feels to be a mother at times,” she added before admitting James’ health scare “brought us together as a family in such a deeper way.”
Now that the health scare is behind them, Dunst, 43, divulged that the family will soon head to the Bahamas for a vacation. She told James they’d go “anywhere” he wanted to go — and he told her, “I want to go to a beach where my sandcastle won’t wash away.”
Dunst and the 37-year-old actor — who keep their family life largely private — met on the set of the FX series “Fargo” and began dating in 2016.
Page Six broke the news that the couple were engaged in 2017. They subsequently welcomed their sons in 2018 and 2021, and in 2022, they tied the knot in Jamaica.
Despite the stressful incident with James, Dunst previously said being a mother has only helped her career as an A-list actress.
“I remember feeling really free after having my [first] son,” she told the Sunday Times in a 2021 interview.
“I think as a performer you put yourself out there more,” she continued. “You put yourself on the line because you have nothing to lose. It doesn’t really matter. And to show everything of yourself is a brave thing and a beautiful thing.”
