Justin Fields has elite offensive tools — if the Jets use him right

The pocket around Justin Fields collapsed, so he moved forward, shook off a hand grabbing his jersey, tucked the football, high-stepped through a shoestring tackle and sped to the pylon for a Jets touchdown.

That scene at the end of a 79-yard opening drive last week against the Packers is how it looks when things go right under pressure for Fields.

Asking him to make a difficult throw in that situation is not the right way for the Jets to build an offense.

“Trying to minimize his athleticism minimizes the player, and that’s ignorance,” ESPN NFL analyst Dan Orlovsky told The Post. “Sometimes it’s not him carrying. Sometimes he doesn’t have to be an option to carry it, but he still presents the illusion that he can. More often than not, he is the potential ball carrier. There is a lot of creativity you can build in around that.”
