What rejuvenated Giancarlo Stanton brings to Yankees
The jocose and relatable side of Giancarlo Stanton doesn’t appear all the time in public.
He often can be stoic. Can keep answers short. Can stick to the predictable interview script any 16-year MLB veteran would follow, especially a 6-foot-6 megastar with 441 homers dotting his ledger and one massive Hall of Fame debate awaiting him after retirement.
But midway through an on-field YES Network interview Tuesday, after collecting his first four-hit game in nearly two years, Stanton started to grin when he fielded a question about Aaron Judge being in awe of his 447-foot homer — and about how much he’s enjoying this personal tear.
“I couldn’t get 450, though,” Stanton joked, flinging his right arm in the air. “What the heck.”
