Who Does Lady Gaga Play In ‘Wednesday’? What We Know About Lady Gaga’s Highly Anticipated Role In ‘Wednesday’ Season 2
Never underestimate the power of a single TikTok edit. In just a few weeks, Lady Gaga will guest star alongside the cast of Wednesday Season 2 on Netflix. But who exactly will she be playing? Will she sing or perform the iconic dance from Season 1? Read on to find out all the details of the pop star’s new role.
Season 2 of Netflix’s teen horror-comedy has Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) fighting off her meddling mother Morticia (Catherine Zeta-Jones), her newfound campus hero fame, a mysterious crow-manipulating serial killer all at once. While struggling with her failing psychic powers, Wednesday receives a vision of Enid (Emma Myers) being murdered by said crow-loving killer. The deadpan teen resolves to end the threat before the threat ends someone she loves — or tolerates, in her case.
We all remember that scene from Season 1 in which Wednesday performs a spooky dance to The Cramps’ “Goo Goo Muck.” And if you were online at all in 2022, you may also remember the viral edit Wednesday fans made mashing this scene together with Gaga’s 2011 song “Bloody Mary.” Now, the “monster queen” herself is about to make the ultimate guest appearance on the show. But who will she be playing? Here’s everything we know about Gaga’s role in Wednesday Season 2.
Who Will Gaga Be Playing In Wednesday Season 2?
On May 31, the musician performed a beautifully gothic Wednesday medley to close out Netflix’s live Tudum 2025 event, including songs like “Bloody Mary” and this year’s hit “Abracadabra.” During Gaga’s performance, the official Wednesday Addams X account tweeted about the singer’s upcoming role: “Rosaline Rotwood. Cloaked in mystery with a reputation that precedes her. Our paths will surely cross. Welcome to mayhem @LadyGaga.”
That’s right — Gaga is taking on the role of the “mysterious and enigmatic” Rosaline Rotwood who, according to Netflix’s official description of the character, “is a legendary Nevermore teacher who crosses paths with Wednesday.” Is that vague enough for you? It seems like Netflix is staying tight-lipped about the character until the premiere of Season 2 Part 2 on Sept. 3, so we’ll just have to wait until Gaga’s appearance to learn more.
Will Gaga Sing Or Dance In Wednesday Season 2?
While we’re not sure if the musician will sing in the show, we do know that she will be releasing a new song and music video alongside the series’ Season 2 Part 2 premiere, as Variety reports. The Hollywood Reporter adds that the video for the new song, “Death Dance,” is directed by Wednesday director Tim Burton.
We also know that Season 2 will feature some dancing, though we’re not sure whether Gaga will be the one doing it. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Ortega had this to say about Gaga’s role in Season 2: “There’s definitely dances in the show. I’m not saying anything about [Gaga’s] character though! Let her be incredible and amazing. She’s great in the show and I don’t think she’s what people expect her to be.”
