‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ Official Trailer Teases New Villain And Unbelievable Fight Sequences

James Cameron has done it again.

The official trailer of Avatar: Fire and Ash has finally released online, teasing the stunning visuals and intense fight sequences the series has become known for.

The trailer, which can be viewed at the top of this page, shows Jake Sully’s (Sam Worthington) family at a crossroads as they face a brand new villain in Varang, played by Oona Chaplin, the leader of the newly introduced Mangkwan Ash Clan. The RDA are also back in full force after regrouping following the events of Avatar: The Way of Water.

The official logline for Avatar: Fire and Ash teases, “Jake and Neytiri’s family grapples with grief after Neteyam’s death, encountering a new, aggressive Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, who are led by the fiery Varang, as the conflict on Pandora escalates and a new moral focus emerges.”

In the trailer, the Pandoran forces can be seen fighting in aerial combat with the Ash People. But Varang is going to be a difficult foe for them to beat, as she warns Kiri (Sigourney Weaver), “Your goddess has no dominion here.”

There is noticeably little to no dialogue in the Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer as Cameron and his team lets the film’s impressive footage speak for itself. This new entry, which is set to premiere in theaters Dec. 19, will certainly deliver the stunning visuals the series has become known for.

If fans are already impressed by what they’ve seen, there’s more in store according to production designer Ben Procter.

“We’re going to see an airborne and water-borne battle for the ages, as the Pandoran forces and RDA clash in a really interesting environment,” he told Empire, adding that the fight will be “something of a scale, in terms of conflict, that we have not seen before,” and will make what fans saw in Avatar: The Way of Water seem like “nothing but a skirmish.”

Zoe Saldaña, who plays Neytiri, says the Sullys will “be tested as a family” in Avatar: Fire and Ash.

“Not only would everything that’s happening compel her to question the bond she has with her husband, but also her bond with herself, her people, her land, and the way the Na’vi are. She’s going to question everything,” she told Empire.

Cameron has already shared that Avatar: Fire and Ash “will be a bit longer” than Avatar: The Way Of Water, which clocked in at three hours and 12 minutes.

In the meantime, Avatar and Avatar: The Way of Water can be streamed on Disney+.
