Meet the Real-Life Loves of the ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ Cast

The I Know What You Did Last Summer slasher sequel is packed with secrets, scares and deadly twists — but off-screen, the film’s stars have romances that are far less terrifying.

The movie, directed by Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, is a follow-up to the 1997 horror classic of the same name. Set nearly three decades after the events of the original, the movie introduces a new group of teens — including Danica Richards (Madelyn Cline), Ava Brucks (Chase Sui Wonders), Milo Griffin (Jonah Hauer-King), Stevie Ward (Sarah Pidgeon) and Teddy Spencer (Tyriq Withers) — who are haunted by a deadly secret after a hit-and-run on graduation night. As the body count rises, they realize someone knows what they did — and will stop at nothing to make them pay.

In addition to the new cast of teens, original costars Freddie Prinze Jr. and Jennifer Love Hewitt reprised their roles as Ray Bronson and Julie James, respectively.

While most of the sequel’s cast are single, both Prinze Jr. and Hewitt have proven that Hollywood fame doesn’t have to get in the way of finding true love.

Here’s everything to know about the real-life loves of the I Know What You Did Last Summer cast.

Cline, who plays the confident queen bee Danica Richards, is currently single.

She confirmed her relationship status to Allure in July 2025, sharing that her “demanding travel schedule has made it difficult to date.”

Cline added, “I want to experience this life on my terms first, before I do all the relationship stuff. When I go to work, I get pretty locked in, and I get really, really overwhelmed sometimes when the priorities start stacking up and I’m trying to figure out where to put my energy.”

The actress previously dated her Outer Banks costar Chase Stokes, musician Jackson Guthy and, most recently, comedian Pete Davidson, whom she split from in 2024.

Wonders, who portrays the grounded, observant Ava Brucks, is also single.

Like Cline, the actress also dated Davidson. The pair met on the set of Bodies Bodies Bodies in 2021 and first sparked romance rumors in December 2022. They ultimately split in 2023 after nearly a year together.

In the future, Wonders will be avoiding another highly-publicized romance.

“I learned early on in my career how nasty that side of the business is, and I learned a lot of stuff that I don’t want and I want to try to avoid,” Wonders told Vanity Fair in June 2025. “Hollywood can play a lot of tricks on you. It’s so seductive with events and the flashing lights and the people calling your name. It’s very easy to get swept up in that.”

Hauer-King — who plays charming Milo Griffin — is reportedly dating film editor Ellie Fenn.

While speaking to Square Mile in May 2024, the actor mentioned his girlfriend, sharing that the couple have been together for five years and met through mutual friends.

Hauer-King also noted that Fenn is “extremely good” at her job, but that they’re hesitant to work together. “Generally, mixing work life, home life has its challenges,” he said.

Hauer-King has not publicly discussed his girlfriend since.

Withers, who portrays the brash Teddy Spencer, is not known to have any romantic ties.

However, producer Neal H. Moritz told PEOPLE in July 2025 that he’s hopeful a romance will blossom from I Know What You Did Last Summer, just like it did back in 1997 between Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar.

“It was really nice to see them all bond. They all liked each other a lot, which was great,” he said. “All we need now is two of them to fall in love and get married, and it’ll parallel the first one!”

Sarah Pidgeon

Pidgeon, who plays grounded and unpretentious Stevie Ward, is private about her dating life. However, she was in a relationship as of June 2024, she told Jeremy O. Harris and Juliana Canfield in Interview Magazine.

“Do you have [a partner]?” Harris asked Pidgeon. She replied, “Mm-hmm.”

Pidgeon has not revealed if she and her partner are still together.

Orpin, who portrays Danica’s fiancé Wyatt, has been dating his girlfriend, Asha Rosie Khan, since 2014.

The actor celebrated their 10th anniversary with a sweet post on Instagram, writing, “10 long years. We have never been happier! Thank you for teaching me how to make a proper cup of tea, the names of all the Taylor Swift albums and the value of changing into pyjamas at 4pm and giving up on the day.”

Orpin continued, “Gurl are u a 4.5 billion year old oblong spheroid orbiting the sun at 107,000 km per hour? Cause ur my world.”

Prinze Jr., who reprised his role as Ray Bronson in the 2025 horror sequel, first met his now-wife, Gellar, on the set of 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer.

At first, the two “really didn’t dig each other,” Prinze Jr. told PEOPLE in 2001. “Then one day I gave her a ride to the gym,” he continued. “We talked on the way up, and she was a cool chick.”

The couple got married in 2002 and have since welcomed two kids: daughter Charlotte Grace, who was born in 2009, and son Rocky James, who was born in 2012.

According to Gellar, the key to their long-lasting marriage is being present with each other.

“Take the 10 minutes – put the phone down. Have a cup of coffee together. Walk the dog at the end of the night. Read a story with your kids,” she previously told PEOPLE. “Make the most of the time that you have.”

Jennifer Love Hewitt and Brian Hallisay

Hewitt, who reprised her role as Julie James, has been married to actor Brian Hallisay since 2013.

The couple first met on the unaired pilot for the 2011 TV series Love Bites. The relationship turned romantic on the set of The Client List (2012-13), where Hallisay portrayed Hewitt’s character’s estranged husband.

The pair welcomed daughter Autumn in 2013, son Atticus in 2015 and son Aidan in 2021.

In December 2024, Hewitt and Hallisay’s two oldest kids watched 1997’s I Know What You Did Last Summer for the first time.

They’re horror people, so they wanted to see it,” the actress told PEOPLE. “It was so crazy seeing myself at 18. I look so much like my daughter, it’s crazy.”

Hewitt continued, “They loved it. They were like, ‘Mommy, this is so crazy. This is so cool.’ “

Austin Nichols

Like many of his castmates, Austin Nichols, who plays Pastor Judah, is not known to have any romantic ties at the moment.

In 2022, while speaking to KTLA, Nichols said he doesn’t foresee meeting the love of his life on a dating app.

“Really, at the root of it, I am old school and a romantic, and there is something about seeing someone by chance, across a crowded room or at the grocery store or getting coffee that I love. I’ll never give up on that,” he said.

Billy Campbell

Billy Campbell, who portrays Teddy Spencer’s dad, Grant, is very private. However, he’s shared that he lives in Norway with his wife and two sons, he previously told the RingSide Report.

“We live on a farm. Not much time for hobbies, but when I do get time to do as I will, I love to read, write, potter about in the barn, run in the woods,” he said. “We’ve been very very fortunate in living as we do. I very often feel I’m one of the luckiest souls alive.”

Gabbriette and Matt Healy

Gabbriette (born Gabriella Bechtel), who portrays crime podcaster Tyler, is engaged to Matty Healy, the lead singer of The 1975.

The couple confirmed their engagement in June 2024, one year after Healy’s split from Taylor Swift.

“Matty quickly fell in love with her,” a source told PEOPLE at the time. “They’ve had a serious and intense relationship from day one.”

While speaking to PEOPLE at the premiere of I Know What You Did Last Summer in July 2025, Gabbriette revealed that she and Healy won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon.

“It might take a while because I’m bad at planning stuff,” she said. “But the wedding bells are somewhere up there.”
