Decluttering hack from expert

Get rid of that junk.

The change in seasons means it’s time to swap out shirts for sweaters in your closet, reorganize and declutter items around your home.

While it’s an annoying task to take on that you’ve most likely been putting off since the first sight of a pumpkin appeared this fall, luckily, home expert Robin Antill from 1st Choice Leisure Buildings shared an unexpected but easy hack for figuring out which items — both household things and clothes — you need to see bye to.

“For one day, flip everyday items upside down, such as books, shoes, mugs, and even picture frames,” Antill told Vice.

“The following day, flip them back as and when you use them. “Here, you will instantly see what you use the most and what just seems to be there, cluttering the space.”

This same logic applies to your closet. “Flip every hanger in your wardrobe backward,” the expert told the outlet.

“Every time you wear something, place it back the right way round.”

Anill suggests giving this method a little more time, so after a few months, you can clearly see which clothes you never give a second thought to.

While you’re on a roll organizing, decluttering and dusting your home — there’s one popular bathroom cleaning method experts are warning against.

Pouring cleaning product “Fabuloso” into your toilet bowl to have it smell like a field of fresh flowers might actually do more harm than good.

“We don’t recommend placing Fabuloso or any other all-purpose cleaner in the back of the toilet tank. Such cleaners can be corrosive and may degrade the rubber gasket and seal in your tank,” wrote experts at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing. “This can lead to leaks and cause your toilet to run, which can spike your water bill.”

While some honorable experts are warning against it, some plumbers joked on TikTok that they want homeowners to make this cleaning mistake so they can stay in business.

“As a plumber I ask that everyone does this so that I have work for the rest of my life,” joked one plumber.

“The fact that the search is ‘do not put fabuloso in toilet,’” wrote another.
