Cowboys’ Trevon Diggs out with concussion after mystery ‘accident’
The already ailing Cowboys team took an unexpected hit on Friday.
Coach Brian Schottenheimer revealed that cornerback Trevon Diggs will miss Sunday’s game against the Commanders due to a concussion — though it’s currently unclear how he came to sustain the head injury.
“Treyvon Diggs came in this morning with some concussion symptoms after having an accident at his home,” Schottenheimer told reporters. “He’s been checked out by our doctors. He’s in the protocol and will miss the game.”

“We’re gathering information. Just got that information walking over from our doctors… it happened last night.”
Dallas sits at third in the NFC East at 2-3-1 entering the matchup with Washington, one-half game back of the divisional rival, which sits at 3-3.

Missing Diggs, a key player in the Cowboys’ secondary, won’t help the struggling defensive unit, which ranks dead last in yards per game (411.7), passing yards against per game (269.5) and passer rating against (117).
Last week, defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus’ unit was torched on the ground by ex-Cowboy Rico Dowdle to the tune of 183 rushing yards.

In better news, the team seems poised to have top receiver CeeDee Lamb back from a three-game absence due to an ankle sprain, adding a massive piece to an offense that’s emerged as one of the NFL’s best, averaging 29.7 points per game on a league-leading 387.5 yards per game.
With Diggs out, the team will lean on rookie Trikweze Bridges and second-year corner Caelen Carsen.
“It’s part of the business, it’s unfortunate,” Schottenheimr said of Diggs’ mystery injury. “Obviously, we want what’s best for Trayvon. And certainly are wishing him well. Next man up. This is the NFL. If you’re unsure of what’s gonna happen, just wait ’cause something’s gonna happen. You deal with it. You don’t lose sleep over it. The biggest thing is the concern for Trayvon, that he’s OK, it seems like he is.”
