Is ‘Black Phone 2’ Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?
If you answer the phone in Black Phone 2—the sequel to the 2021 horror movie The Black Phone, which opens in theaters this weekend—you might die. As if young people already weren’t scared enough of phone calls!
Director Scott Derrickson, who co-wrote the script with C. Robert Cargill, is back for this sequel, which picks up four years after the events of the first movie, in 1982. Finney (Mason Thames) is still recovering from the trauma of being kidnapped, and nearly murdered by the Grabber (Ethan Hawke), a deranged masked murderer who locked him in a basement with nothing but a disconnected phone. When Finney’s sister Gwen (Madeleine McGraw) starts having terrifying visions of mutilated children and a ringing phone, Finney knows the nightmare is not yet over. Sure, he killed the Grabber in the last movie, but this is a horror movie! The villains always come back.
Black Phone 2 will surely be a fun watch on the big screen with an audience, but if you’d rather wait to watch it at home, here’s what we know about when Black Phone 2 will be streaming on Peacock and Amazon Prime.
Where to watch the Black Phone 2 movie :
Black Phone 2 will only available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in the U.S. on Friday, October 17, in theaters nationwide. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. Black Phone 2 is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.
Is the Black Phone 2 movie streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime?
Black Phone 2 is not streaming on Netflix, and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Universal release. Almost all Universal movies go to the NBCUniversal streaming platform, Peacock.
You will be able to purchase Black Phone 2 on Prime Video eventually, when the movie becomes available to buy and rent on digital. You will eventually be able to stream Black Phone 2 on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, four months after the movie streams on Peacock. This is thanks to the deal between Universal and Amazon that sends Universal movies to Peacock for the first four months of the “Pay 1 window,” then to Amazon Prime Video for the next months of the window, followed by four more months on Peacock. If our prediction for when Black Phone 2 will be on Peacock is correct, then you should see Black Phone 2 streaming on Prime around June 2026.
But the first place you’ll be able watch Black Phone 2 movie at home will be to buy or rent on digital platforms, followed by a streaming release on Peacock.
Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $10.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $16.99/month.
You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $109.99 with ads or $169.99 without ads.
Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.
Is the Black Phone 2 movie streaming on Peacock?
The Black Phone 2 streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but you will likely see Black Phone 2 streaming on Peacock this winter. Another Universal horror release, M3GAN 2.0, began streaming on Peacock about three months after the movie opened in theaters.
If Black Phone 2 follows a similar release pattern, you might see the movie on digital in about a month, around October 2025, and streaming on Peacock around mid-to-late January 2026. That said, other Universal movies have taken just two months to come to Peacock, so you may see Black Phone 2 on Peacock even earlier, around mid-to-late December 2025.
This is all speculation. Universal has not had a consistent digital release strategy. So it varies by title. If you want to watch the Black Phone 2 movie right away, your best bet is to catch the movie in theaters.
