Splashy Bal Harbour condo sells for a record-breaking $30.5M



In South Florida, Bal Harbour’s condo market is on fire. A corner skypad at Oceana Bal Harbour just sold for $29 million — plus an additional $1.5 million for a parking space and furniture— for a record-smashing total of $30.5 million.

The seller is French insurance mogul Solly Azar, who, via a trust, paid $16.3 million in 2017 for two units that he combined, plus five parking spots. He first listed the residence last year for $38.5 million; it was last asking $35.9 million.

(The sale comes as real estate listings continue to rise in Bal Harbour, where a preconstruction penthouse at Rivage Residences Bal Harbour is asking $150 million.)

The buyers of the Azar aerie are Chicago legal eagles Dan Fischel and Sylvia Neil. The closing was first reported by the Real Deal.

The spacious Bal Harbor spread’s 7,442 square feet includes four bedrooms, four baths and two powder rooms. The unit opens from a private elevator into an entry foyer with a custom orchid wall and features floor-to-ceiling windows and a chef’s kitchen.

Design details include high ceilings, oak floors, an entertaining bar, lots of storage, temperature-controlled windows and multiple entertaining spaces. A wraparound terrace offers views of the ocean, Biscayne Bay and Miami’s downtown skyline.

The primary bedroom comes with two boutique-style dressing rooms and an en-suite, spa-like bath.

The listing brokers are Douglas Elliman’s Ruthie and Ethan Assouline and Eytan Namiech. The sellers’ brokers are Joelle Oiknine, Marie Miller and Nathalie Attias at One Sotheby’s International Realty.

Oceana Bal Harbour was completed in 2017 and sits on 5.5 acres. The 28-story oceanfront tower boasts an array of amenities, including a resort-style pool, a restaurant, a gym and tennis courts. Jeff Koons created two site-specific stainless steel sculptures for the property: “Seated Ballerina” and “Pluto and Proserpina.”  

Fischel and Neil also own a Hollywood Hills penthouse that they bought in 2021 from Evan Metropoulos, the brother of Daren Metropoulos (who paid $100 million for the Playboy mansion in 2016) and the son of billionaire Dean Metropoulos.
