Former ‘Southern Charm’ Star Kathryn Dennis Released From Jail After Serving 11 Days Behind Bars
Former Southern Charm star Kathryn Dennis has been released from jail after serving 11 of the 30-day sentence she was given for driving under the influence.
According to Us Weekly, an officer confirmed Dennis was released from Berkeley County Hill-Finklea Detention Center in South Carolina as of Tuesday (Oct. 14) morning.
Dennis was sentenced to 30 days in jail and taken into custody Oct. 3 for a three-car collision that took place in May 2024. Officers observed that Dennis seemed “possibly impaired” and “had glossy eyes and an odor of alcohol coming from her.” Responding officers also found unopened mini bottles of Fireball on the driver’s side floor, according to local outlets.
Dennis, who has been open about her struggles with sobriety during her time on Southern Charm, initially denied that she had been drinking that day. But she later confessed she had drank alcohol “way earlier.”
She was booked on charges of driving under the influence and transporting a container of alcohol in a motor vehicle with the seal broken.
In videos of the arrest obtained by TMZ, Dennis can be seen arguing with the officers.
“Ya’ll are ruining my life — and my kids’ [lives],” she said in the video. “Thanks for nothing. You didn’t even do a field sobriety test to know if you’re legit or not. No, you sure didn’t. You didn’t do a blood alcohol test.”
Us Weekly also reports the former reality star is being sued by Larry Patrick Griffin, who claims he suffered “serious” injuries during the accident.
Griffin accused Dennis of being “under the influence,” claiming she made a “conscious decision to drive a motor vehicle on a public roadway while under the influence and intoxication of alcoholic beverages.”
Decider reached out to Dennis for comment.
The incident came less than a year after a car registered in her name was involved in a hit-and-run incident in South Carolina that left a school resource officer injured, per People.
Dennis starred on Southern Charm for eight seasons before leaving in 2023.
