Whoopi Goldberg Calls Marjorie Taylor Greene The “Voice Of Reason” In Shocking ‘View’ Moment: “What The Hell Is Going On?”

Whoopi Goldberg and her View co-hosts were shocked to see Marjorie Taylor Greene has become a “voice of reason” as the government shutdown enters its ninth day.

Goldberg shared some rare praise for the often controversial Georgia state representative in a moment that seemed to shock even her.

The View kicked off Thursday’s (Oct. 9) broadcast with a discussion about the ongoing government shutdown, featuring clips of government officials who seem to be pointing fingers and placing blame for the government shutdown on the other side of the aisle. Greene said in an interview with CNN that this was a bipartisan issue that must be resolved.

“Let’s take off our Democrat jerseys, let’s take off our Republican jerseys,” she says in the clip. “We should do something responsible for the American people and fix this.”

Goldberg appeared shocked by the clip as she told The View audience, “That was Marjorie Taylor Greene and she seems to be the only one responding to her constituents.”

She continued, “Because her constituents are saying, ‘Excuse me we are being affected by what’s happening here.’ She is in not a rich district, she’s in a poor district, and her people are saying, ‘This is affecting us. Either you get us some help, or we’re gonna put you out.”

“This is your job,” she then added, before pointing out, “She is the voice of reason here. What the hell is going on?”

Alyssa Farah Griffin felt similarly and offered up her own aphorism that seemed to encapsulate the moment perfectly for The View: “You know what they say about a blind squirrel… A blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then.”

“It’s a dark day when Marjorie Taylor Greene is the voice of reason,” she commented.

Griffin noted that she strongly opposes the government shutdown herself, saying it’s a symptom of “the power of the presidency is growing to be too much.”

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
