Gene Simmons speaks out after being hospitalized in car crash
Gene Simmons is giving his worried fans a relieving health update.
The Kiss co-founder has addressed the scary car crash in Malibu, California, that left him temporarily hospitalized earlier this week.
“Thanks, everybody, for the kind wishes,” Simmons, 76, shared via X on Wednesday, Oct. 9. “I’m completely fine.”
“I had a slight fender bender,” he explained. “It happens. Especially to those of us were horrible drivers. And that’s me. All is well.”
The “God of Thunder” rocker’s concerned fans, meanwhile, rushed to the comments to express relief that Simmons is “completely fine” following the incident.
“Glad to hear you are ok, Gene,” one person tweeted.
“Best wishes to you my friend I was so worried when I heard about it plesse be careful out there,” added another.
“Gene glad you’re okay you should be flying in the front of planes and riding in the back cars anyway you earned it,” commented a third, while a fourth shared, “Glad you’re doing okay!”
NBC4 Los Angeles first reported that Simmons was left hospitalized following a car crash in Malibu on Tuesday.
The Kiss legend had either “passed out or fainted,” he told police, while behind the wheel of his SUV before it collided with a parked car on the Pacific Coast Highway, according to the outlet.
A spokesperson for the Sheriff’s Department, meanwhile, told The Post that there was an accident matching the description of the Kiss bassist’s crash. However, they could not identify the driver involved.
The spokesperson shared that the crash unfolded in the 25600 block of the PCH shortly before 1 p.m. and that it involved “a black Lincoln Navigator” that “struck a parked vehicle.”
The driver “might have suffered a medical emergency before the crash,” they said, and was subsequently transported to a local hospital for medical treatment.
NBC4 later identified the driver as Simmons and further reported that his SUV “careened across several lanes of traffic” before colliding with a parked car.
Shannon Tweed, the “Rock and Roll All Nite” crooner’s wife, told the outlet that her husband was released from the hospital and recovering at home.
The Post reached out to Simmons’ rep for comment.
But Simmons isn’t the only Kiss alum left recovering from a worrying incident this week.
Ace Frehley, the band’s co-founder and former guitarist, recently canceled the remaining dates of his 2025 tour due to “ongoing medical issues” after a fall that left him hospitalized.
Frehley, 74, had announced last month that he couldn’t make a previously scheduled performance in California because he suffered “a minor fall in his studio” that resulted “in a trip to the hospital.”
The beloved rock band, which was originally comprised of Simmons, Frehley, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, is set to reunite to celebrate its 50th anniversary with a festival, Kiss Kruise: Land-Locked in Vegas, next month.
Scheduled for Nov. 14-16 in the Entertainment Capital of the World, the three-day event would mark the group’s first performance since they announced their retirement from touring in 2023.
