‘Freakier Friday’ Comes to Digital, But When Will ‘Freakier Friday’ Be Streaming Free on Disney+?
Freakier Friday is coming to digital platforms to buy and rent tomorrow, which means millennials can soon re-live their childhood for the price of $30.
The sequel to the 2003 Disney movie Freaky Friday (which was, itself, a remake of the 1976 movie, which was based on the 1972 novel), reunites Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, everyone’s favorite body-swapped mother-and-daughter duo. Directed by Nisha Ganatra, with a screenplay written by Jordan Weiss, Freakier Friday once again finds Anna (Lohan) and her mom Tess (Curtis) swapping bodies. But this time, it’s not with each other—it’s with Anna’s daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and her soon-to-be stepdaughter, (Sophia Hammons). Harper and Lily don’t get along, and see this body swap as the perfect opportunity to break up their parents.
Freaky Friday cast members Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Rosalind Chao, Ryan Malgarini, Christina Vidal Mitchell, Haley Hudson, Stephen Tobolowsky, and Lucille Soong all reprise their role from the first film, while The Good Place star Many Jancinto joins the cast as Lohan’s on-screen fiancé.
If you’re not willing to fork over $30 to watch Freakier Friday at home, you should know that we expect to see Freakier Friday streaming on Disney+ for free before the end of the year.
Where to watch the Freakier Friday movie on streaming:
Beginning on Tuesday, October 7 at 12 a.m. Eastern Time (which is also October 6 at 9 p.m. Pacific Time), Freakier Friday will be available to buy digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The Freakier Friday DVD release date has not yet been announced.
Freakier Friday is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but because it is a Disney movie, we do expect to see Freakier Friday streaming on Disney+ soon.
Disney+ offers a number of subscription options, so you can find the one that works for you. With ads, a subscription costs $9.99/month; without ads, it’s $15.99/month or $159.99/year.
There are also Disney+ bundles with Hulu, Max, and ESPN+, so you can subscribe to up to three services at once and save over 40% every month. The bundles are available in a few different configurations, starting at $10.99/month for Disney+ and Hulu with ads, and going up to $29.99/month for Disney+, Hulu, and Max ad-free.
When will Freakier Friday be streaming free on Disney Plus?
Freakier Friday will likely stream on Disney+ in the next month-and-a-half, because it is a Disney movie. All the new Disney theatrical movies end up streaming on Disney+, often about three to six months after opening in theaters.
Another recent Disney movie, Lilo and Stitch, was released on premium video-on-demand about two months after opening in theaters, and began streaming on Disney+ a little over three months after opening in theaters. If Freakier Friday follows a similar release strategy, you may see Freakier Friday streaming on Disney+ around mid-November 2025.
That said, the Freakier Friday 2025 movie Disney+ release date has not yet officially been announced. This is all guesswork, so take it with a grain of salt. For now, if you want to watch Freakier Friday at home, you can buy a digital copy of the movie.
