5 Fashion Stylist-Approved Fall Shackets on Sale from $18

My coat closet is packed to the gills, but I’ve decided that doesn’t matter. My fall outfit rotation is in desperate need of at least one new shacket to add to the mix.

That’s why I turned to two fashion stylists, Keia Bounds and Cynthia Kennedy, to get their top recommendations on which shackets to buy this season. The good news? There are so many types of shackets beyond basic plaid flannel.

“Shackets are such a versatile piece to add to your collection as a layering option,” Bounds says. “They work really well for changing temperatures, and there’s a variety of styles, patterns, textures, and colors to choose from.”

Ahead, find the stylists’ must-have shacket picks in updated fabrics like corduroy, suede, and faux leather. Plus, they’re all on sale at Amazon, starting at $18.

Kennedy and Bounds both advise layering up in a faux suede shacket this fall. “I love how suede always has a way of making any outfit look rich and elevated,” Kennedy says. “It can easily take you from the office to dinner to casual weekends, and will go with so many pieces in your wardrobe.” Bounds agrees, adding that a suede shacket “adds elegance and elevates your look.”

This Kennedy-approved shacket has a cropped silhouette that she says “balances proportions beautifully” and “feels luxe.” It has a four-button front with a straight-point collar, oversized front patch pockets, and buttoned cuffs, and it comes in a variety of neutral hues including olive green, black, beige, and dark brown.

For “a combination of a lightweight jacket and a structured shirt,” Bounds recommends this corduroy shacket. The “cozy and comforting” layer is ideal for throwing on during “a cool night or early morning,” and “looks great with jeans or dressed up with a tailored pair of trousers.” It’s designed with a full-button front, straight point collar, buttoned cuffs, and a chest patch pocket. Choose from a variety of solid colors and plaids, plus sizes S–3X.

“I’m used to seeing plaid shackets every fall, but this hooded, fleece-lined style has a little something extra,” Kennedy says of this long flannel version. She says the lining is “seriously cozy,” while it’s versatile enough to wear with “literally anything.” Kennedy recommends it “over jeans and a tee, faux leather leggings and boots, or tossed on over workout clothes.” It’s available in 15 colors and sizes S–XXL.

For a versatile style statement, both Bounds and Kennedy are fans of a faux leather shacket. “It’s edgy with clean style lines,” Bounds says, adding that you can layer it over “knits, tees, or dresses.”

Kennedy’s faux leather shacket pick is this version with a full-button front, straight point collar, and flap patch pockets. “Try it over a slim turtleneck, straight-leg jeans, and loafers for a casual but polished look, or a mini skirt, sheer tights, and knee-high boots for an evening out,” she says.

“This oversized, wool-like plaid shacket trench is basically the definition of cozy meets cool,” Kennedy says. She especially likes the soft fabric, which she says feels like “wrapping up in a blanket,” but adds that the plaid pattern and trench silhouette “keep it stylish.”

The shacket is designed in a longer silhouette that hits at the knees on most people. It has a full-button front, notched lapels, and chest patch pockets, and it comes in seven colors, plus sizes XS–XXL.
