Stevie Nicks is wishing her former Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham a happy birthday.
In an Instagram Stories post, Nicks, 77, wrote, “Wishing you the best Birthday ever @lindseybuckingham! Love’s ya! Stevie.” The post featured a deep purple background and white lettering.
The birthday wish comes a few weeks after the Sept. 19 reissue of Buckingham Nicks, the first album for both artists. It was originally released in 1973, a year before she and Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac.
Last month, the “Edge of Seventeen” singer released a never-before-seen handwritten letter she sent to her family while she and Buckingham, 76, recorded Buckingham Nicks. In the letter, Nicks quipped that she was “getting very tired of listening to over 12 hours of music per day” but that she was confident “it will pay off in the end.”

In the letter, sent on stationery from Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, Calif., Nicks complimented Buckingham’s guitar-playing skills. “By the way – Dad and Chris – that rock and roll tune that you both liked (‘Baby Baby, don’t treat me so bad’) with the fancy guitar work is almost finished and Lindsey may go down in history as one of ‘greats’ in guitar playing. It really is quite amazing,” she wrote at the time.

The “Go Your Own Way” singer recently reunited with Mick Fleetwood for Miley Cyrus’ song “Secrets,” released Sept. 18. The song was recorded as a gift for her father Billy Ray Cyrus, who turned 64 on Monday, Aug. 25 .
“For my birthday, Miley gave me the gift of music and wrote me a song called Secrets and got my favorite musicians Fleetwood Mac to play on it! I love you Mile ❤️” Billy Ray wrote on Instagram at the time.
Nicks and Buckingham would go on to have a tumultuous relationship. After meeting in high school, the pair began dating in 1972 and split four years later. On New Year’s Eve in 1974, the former couple officially joined Fleetwood Mac, with their later split coinciding with the band’s rise to fame amid the release of their album Rumours.
In the years to come, the pair continued to make music and perform together as exes, alongside bandmates Mick Fleetwood, John McVie and the late Christine McVie.
