A husband’s upcoming hiking adventure with his friends is not sitting well with his busy wife, who is juggling domestic duties with a broken arm.
The injured wife explained on the community forum Mumsnet that her partner keeps making plans over various weekends that don’t involve her.
“He told me he’s away hillwalking next weekend — no discussion, which is not like him, just I’m away with my friends for the whole day again,” she wrote, adding that it’s become a trend. “The last two weekends he’s been away for most of both days doing sporty things/hobbies.”
The wife noted that her broken arm is still sore.
“So next weekend I was actually looking forward to having some help and time with him,” she said. “I’ve been struggling with housework, running around and picking up kids and looking after our dogs.”

She continued, “He’s just got a new dog so more work except it’s me who’s doing the work, or it feels like it — I need a bit of help!”
Completing all of these domestic chores has taken a toll on her.
“I’ve had no time to do any of the billing for my business this weekend or clean my van or, you know, relax,” she emphasized.
Meanwhile, her husband’s next few weekends are already booked.
“Weekend after next he’s away training for his work, and weekend after that he’s got something else again,” she explained.

Wondering if her feelings are valid, the busy wife and mother asked the forum if she’s being unreasonable.
“He needs a reality check,” one person replied, validating how “ridiculous” the husband’s behavior is in this situation.
Another Mumsnet user agreed and commented, “You’ve got a broken arm, kids to look after, a business to run, a house to deal with plus dogs to care for. He is not looking after his kids, his house, his dogs or caring for his wife who has a broken arm. He sounds like a total s—.”
