NEED TO KNOW

  • Taylor Swift released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3
  • She and Travis Kelce announced their engagement on Aug. 26
  • “This album is about what was going on behind my scenes in my inner life during this tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant,” Swift has said of her new music

Taylor Swift prophesied her own proposal while writing The Life of a Showgirl.

On her new song “Wood,” Swift appears to open up about finding a life partner in NFL star Travis Kelce after being unlucky in love.

“Girls, I don’t need to catch a bouquet, mm / To know a hard rock is on the way / And baby, I’ll admit I’ve been a little superstitious / The curse on me was broken by your magic wand / Seems to me that you and me, we make our own luck,” Swift sings on the entendre-laden jam before referencing Kelce’s podcast. “New heights / A man who I ain’t gotta / Knock on wood / All of that bitchin’, wishin’ on a fallin’ star / Never did me any good / I ain’t got to knock on wood.”

Elsewhere on the sexy standout, Swift sings that “it’s you and me forever,” adding: “Forgive me, it sounds cocky / He hypnotized me and opened my eyes / Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / his love was the key to open my thighs.”

Swift unleashed The Life of a Showgirl, her 12th album, on Friday, Oct. 3 — a little more than a month after Swift and Kelce, both 35, announced they were engaged following two years of dating.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” the pair captioned the post alongside a dynamite emoji, a reference to their couple nickname, “TNT.”

After sharing the news publicly, Kelce opened up about their engagement on his New Heights podcast with his brother Jason.

“I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that’s been going on. It’s been really fun telling everybody who I’m going to be spending the rest of my life with,” he said on the Sept. 3 episode, adding “I still get giddy” calling Swift his “fiancée.”
