Bakers gonna bake — and Taylor Swift isn’t afraid of a bread pun.

During an interview with BBC Radio 1 interview on Friday, Oct. 3, the pop superstar opened up about her new album The Life of a Showgirl and her love for sourdough.

In fact, she gifted a loaf to host Greg James, which he showed off during the segment.

“I’ve been baking, and so I brought Greg some sourdough,” she shared. “It’s lemon-blueberry, which I think is a really nice variation.”

James then pointed out that Swift’s handwritten note on the package included a play on the opening track from her new release, “The Fate of Ophelia.”

“You’ve put ‘The Fate of Doughphelia,’” he read aloud.

Swift, 35, then explained, “You know, the bread puns, like, I think the worse they are, the better.”

James brought up the singer’s Aug. 13 interview on her fiancé Travis Kelce’s New Heights podcast, in which she announced The Life of a Showgirl while also devoting time to her dough obsession.

“You did your sourdough chat, and then you talked about the album,” he noted.

“Yeah, I think I talked about bread for I think maybe 320 hours,” Swift admitted.

“People were like ‘Okay, if she doesn’t stop talking about sourdough … It’s a danger for me to start, because I cannot stop talking about bread when I start. And it has nothing to do with music,” she continued.

James said he was also “grateful” for the cat stickers Swift thoughtfully used to decorate the bread bag.

“I chose them very carefully, for what your sense of humor is in my approximation of it, having known you for as long as I have,” Swift told him.

James then caught a glaring omission, asking why Swift hasn’t made bread pun on her 2014 hit “Shake It Off.”

“You did miss ‘Bake It Off,’” he joked, to which Swift shot back, “Well, I just thought it’s too easy.”

When he began to question her choice of “Doughpelia,” she quickly explained, “That’s current. That’s the one thing that makes it relevant to our conversation.”

In July, Swift gave friends Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco fresh bread with a handwritten message that read, “It’s a loaf story,” a play on the lyrics to Swift’s 2008 song “Love Story.”

On New Heights in August, Swift revealed that she’d been making something special for Travis’ brother Jason Kelce‘s daughters.

“There’s a blueberry lemon,” she said. “There’s cinnamon swirl, cinnamon raisin, and this one I’ve been workshopping for the girls because they love everything rainbow — Funfetti sourdough.”

Jason excitedly replied, “Oh my gosh. That’s gonna blow their mind.”

Swift quickly added, “No. It will because they love sprinkles. Like, we put, you know, we put sprinkles in everything when we hang out.”

Swift said bread frequently fills her thoughts.

“The sourdough’s taken over my life in a huge way. I’m really talking about bread 60 percent of the time now,” she said.
