Julian Lennon has some strong feelings about love.

In his music video for “I Hope,” which PEOPLE can exclusively premiere, the English singer-songwriter waxes poetic about wanting a love that lasts a lifetime.

“Its about hoping [love] never ends,” says Julian, 62.

The visual for the cinematic power ballad, which features the “Too Late for Goodbyes” artist playing the keyboard in a red-and-black-lit room with his band and trippy shadow images of them, was one of four videos he made.

“I was doing [the videos] all in one day,for a budget you couldn’t even buy a second-hand scooter for,” says Julian. “My idea was to at least try to make each of the videos very different, even though [we] shot [them] in one afternoon with the same band and warehouse space.”

He ultimately landed on the color scheme of black and red for the “I Hope” visual as opposed to black and white because the song was about the rush of “blood, head and heart when in love and hoping that love remained.”

“I Hope” will be featured on Julian’s forthcoming, four-track EP, which is a collection of demos from late ’80s and early ’90s writing sessions that he loved but didn’t have a home.

“They didn’t work, or sit comfortably on other earlier albums, but I didn’t want to discard them,” he says. “The energy and stress that goes into an album is tremendous, and when they don’t see the light of day, which many haven’t, it’s heartbreaking for an artist.”

The EP will feature the tracks “Because…”, “I Hope”, “Keep on Searching” and “I Won’t Give Up.” It was mixed by Adrian Bushby and produced by Justin Clayton and Julian, with contributions from Andrew Watt and Louis Bell.

Now, after becoming independent artist following Julian’s years tied to larger record labels, it felt like the right time to share them.

“Putting an EP together was fun,” he says. “It reminded me what music was supposed to be about, being inspiring, fearless and not stressing about the results.”

Once again, the son of John Lennon was able to “be creative, with no boundaries.”

Julian’s forthcoming EP is out Oct. 24 and is available for pre-order here.
