Calif. Restaurant Owner Allegedly Shoots at Customer During Dispute Over Bill

A California restaurant owner allegedly pulled out a revolver and fired at a customer after a late-night fight over a bill turned violent.

Police were called to Dos Culturas Restaurant on Santa Rosa Avenue just after 4 a.m. following reports of gunfire, according to CBS News Bay Area, the Press Democrat and SFGate. Investigators say 48-year-old Moises Flores and a 37-year-old man had been drinking when the dispute over payment began inside and then spilled outside.

That’s when, police believe, Flores allegedly went back inside, grabbed a revolver and fired toward the man, per the outlets.

The bullet missed him but shattered the rear window of a parked car where a woman was sitting inside. She wasn’t hurt.

The man told officers he had been assaulted and suffered minor injuries in the fight, the outlets reported.

Witnesses also described hearing a single gunshot followed by the sound of breaking glass, per the outlets. When officers searched the restaurant, they found Flores inside and recovered the revolver and live ammunition from the kitchen.

Flores was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, shooting at an occupied vehicle, being a felon in possession of a firearm and violating probation, according to CBS. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.

The outlets added that Flores is on probation from a 2023 conviction involving a gun and DUI, which bars him from possessing firearms or drinking alcohol.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the department’s crime tips line.
