Zach Bryan just made music history.

On Saturday, Sept. 27, the “Pink Skies” singer set the record for playing the highest ticketed show in U.S. history at the Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich., according to Variety and Today.

Bryan, 29, played for a crowd of 112,408 fans, beating the record previously held by George Strait, who performed for 110,905 concertgoers at Kyle Field in College Station, Texas, in 2024.

The title for the largest concert of all-time is still held by Rod Stewart, whose New Year’s Eve performance on Copacabana Beach, in Rio de Janeiro, on December 31, 1994, drew a crowd of 3.5 million people. However, unlike Bryan’s, his concert was free.

Additionally, Bryan also became the first artist to play Michigan Stadium, which is primarily used for sporting events. The stadium is notable for being the largest in the U.S., and the third largest in the world, with an official seating capacity of 107,601, although there are additional seats near the center-field stage.

Bryan acknowledged his accomplishment in a brief video shared to his Instagram Stories on Sunday. In the video, the singer pops open a Budweiser as he says, “Hey everyone! Get ready with us, we’re about to play the biggest ticketed show in American history!”

Throughout the night Bryan was joined onstage by special guests John Mayer and the War and Treaty. The history-making moment wasn’t lost on Mayer, 47, who shared a collection of photos from the night on his Instagram.

“This weekend, I took part in the largest ticketed event in U.S. concert history, thanks to @zachlanebryan,” he captioned his post. “He set a new attendance record at Ann Arbor’s Michigan Stadium. What he’s accomplished is truly phenomenal, and to share the bill with him was a real honor.”

Bryan commented on the post, writing, “Couldn’t have done it without you John! We love ya!”

The record-setting show marked the end of the “28” singer’s Quittin’ Time tour, a milestone he acknowledged with an Instagram post on Wednesday, Sept. 24.

At the time, Bryan wrote, “last show of the year at Michigan stadium this week been the worst and best few years of my life. so ready for the chapter to end gotta go make music fun to myself again.”

He continued, “im gonna try to give it my all justa’ one more time each day I pray people understand I will never regret a thing and I am proud of myself, my family and my friends. there could be a million a——- who have never had a unique thought in their life preaching a million pounds of negativity and bulls— and it wouldn’t be worth a single soul who’s found strength n shelter in true song writing and good live performances.”

Bryan’s performance comes after a tumultuous few months which included a contentious split from Brianna Chickenfry and a feud with fellow country star Gavin Adcock.
