Joan Collins, 92, Walks Son Alexander Newley Down the Aisle at His Wedding

Dame Joan Collins is a proud mother of the groom!

The 92-year-old English actress and author walked her son, Alexander “Sacha” Newley, down the aisle at his wedding in Austria over the weekend. Alexander, 60, married singer-songwriter Sheela Raman at a picturesque lakeside venue in Salzburg.

The bride and groom shared video highlights of the nuptials — including Collins’ special role — via a joint Instagram post on Sunday, Sept. 28. The footage shows Sheela, 52, getting glam for the big day and posing in her lace-embellished wedding dress. Another clip captures Sheela and Alexander, a writer and artist, standing together in their wedding attire at the end of a dock.

Collins can be seen arm-in-arm with Alexander as she escorts him to the altar. The Dynasty star wore a light blue caped dress, a matching oversized hat and heels for the occasion. Later in the video, she can be seen smiling with delight as her young grandchild — Alexander and Sheela’s 3-year-old daughter, Deia Shanaya — made her entrance as flower girl.

The Instagram video also features a glimpse of the glamorous table settings for the wedding dinner and Alexander and Sheela dancing at their celebration.

In a lengthy caption, Sheela reflected on the couple’s special day.

“What a gift to stand side-by-side, surrounded by our beloved friends and family, as we step into this new chapter together,” she wrote. “Our wedding day was more than a celebration, it was a reflection of the creative life we’re building together, full of music, laughter and love, and our little girl, who makes every day more glorious as she blossoms.”

She added: “We’re so grateful to our family and friends who traveled from near and far, held us in joy, and communed with us on this sacred day.”

Collins shares Alexander, as well as daughter Tara Newley, 61, with her late second husband, Anthony Newley. She also shares daughter Katyana Kass, 53, with her third husband, Ron Kass.

The Love & Desire & Hate author has been married to her fifth husband, Percy Gibson, since 2002.

In the 2022 documentary, This Is Joan Collins, Collins described motherhood as “really exciting,” saying, “I love every minute of it.” She previously told Hello! magazine that seeing her children happy is “what makes me happiest.”

Reflecting on being raised by a showbiz icon, Collins’ daughter Tara told The Sunday Times in 2020, “When you get down to it, she’s not very different to most mums. She just happens to be Joan Collins, a total legend.”
