Jenna Bush Hager is declassifying a tidbit from her teenage years.
The Today with Jenna & Friends host, 43, revealed on the Sept. 23 episode the “code name” she was given to use for hotel bookings while her father, George W. Bush, was transitioning from Texas governor to U.S. president.
“Can you tell us your name now? Is it classified or anything?” guest co-host Sheinelle Jones, 47, asked, to which Bush Hager replied, “Let’s declassify it.”
Bush Hager continued, “My name was Holly Crawford. I know, Holly sounds like a good time, doesn’t she? Well, I didn’t come up with it.”
The mom of three explained she used the alias when she “was just an 18-year-old kid,” which would have been the year of her dad’s 2000 presidential election and a year before his first term as president began.
Celebrities and politicians in the spotlight often use aliases to check into hotels to protect their privacy and keep their whereabouts secret.
Pondering the origin of this alias, Jones asked whether the Secret Service created the name, similar to the code names bestowed upon politicians and their loved ones for security reasons and tradition.
“I guess so. Crawford was the name where … my parents had the house [in Texas], but also holly bush. Holly. I don’t know. I just made that up,” said Bush Hager, whose actual Secret Service code name was Twinkle.
