A travel-happy wife is concerned that her husband has taken issue with her amid her multiple booked vacations.

The woman explained on the U.K. community forum Mumsnet that things turned sour when she discussed booking another girls’ trip.

“He isn’t happy about it and is saying I’m taking the piss as I already have 2 holidays with other girls booked and another holiday is with our daughter,” she wrote, adding that he “won’t give any other reason” why he’s mad and that they “do have holidays booked together as a couple.”

She continued, “He got defensive and said, ‘You do what you want to do,’ and also said, ‘I have my money, you have yours.’ ”

“Is this controlling and gaslighting?” she then asked the forum.

Responses to the post were mixed with one calling the husband’s response a “tantrum,” while another sided with the woman’s spouse.

“You already have 2 holidays booked with friends? Then yes that’s a lot, not just money but means you are using precious annual leave too, time you could spend together. One trip a year is fine but 3???”

Another person replied to the post, “To be fair, I love to travel and my partner doesn’t, so girls holidays are a godsend, but 4 seems quite a lot in one year.”

In response to someone asking about how the trips affect the family’s finances and their children, the wife commented, “Finances are good, children are older so can look after themselves.”

Some Mumsnet users encouraged the wife to prod her husband for an reason why she shouldn’t book another girls’ trip.

One said, “Understanding what his objection really is will help sort this out. He doesn’t get to block what you do because he doesn’t have friends.”
