- A TikTok creator who makes cleaning videos recorded the scary moment a woman started screaming for help outside her apartment
- She explained in a separate “story time” video why she didn’t go out to help and decided to call the police instead
- Commenters later commended her for seeking help instead of trying to handle the situation herself
A woman who makes cleaning videos on TikTok accidentally recorded the terrifying moment another person started screaming for help right outside her apartment.
The creator, @summerboshaw, documented the unsettling incident in a 25-second video posted earlier this week.
In the clip, Summer, who lives in the Lansing, Mich., area, can be seen wiping down her counters in her apartment before a loud noise seemingly prompts her to stop what she’s doing and look around in alarm.
Then the shouting starts: “Help! Help! Somebody f—ing help me. I’m in danger. I am in a lot of danger please f—ing help me. Please.” A woman’s strained voice can be heard from what sounds like a close distance.
Summer exits the frame and can be heard running across the apartment.

The TikTok creator wrote over the video, “I wanted to clean, not call 911.”
In the comments, other users were shocked by the incident and asked for an update on what happened next. The viral response to the video, which now has 1.5 million views, led Summer to create a separate “story time” video and address the commenters’ questions
“I was cleaning my apartment and I had to call 911,” she begins the story time. “In the video, I’m cleaning and my head turns because I hear pounding, like, really loud. So that’s when I stopped and was listening, and then I heard the woman say, ‘Get your f—ing hands off me.’ That’s when she started screaming, ‘Help, help, help me. I’m in danger.’”
Summer then says she decided to “call the cops” and explains why she didn’t want to go outside to help the screaming woman.
“I was not going out there to help because I live in the Lansing area and I didn’t know if it was a ploy to get a woman out for sex trafficking. I also didn’t know if anybody had a gun. So I listened to everything, I looked through my peephole, I saw that it was a woman. And I called the cops,” she adds.
She also reiterates that because she makes cleaning videos on TikTok, she was already recording when the incident occurred and she was able to show police officers the clip.
After they arrived at the scene, Summer claims the woman was getting “checked out by EMTs” and that she seemed “not fully all there, at all.”
The creator then explains what happened next, which other users described as a “plot twist” in the comments section.

“As I’m looking out the window, [the woman] is actually the one who got arrested,” Summer says. “So, I don’t know if it was a drug-type relation… All I know is that a man was pounding on the door and that’s when she started screaming. But she was the one who got arrested.”
She concludes the video by saying, “So yeah, that’s how it is living in Lansing.”
PEOPLE has reached out to Summer and the local police department for comment.

TikTok users flocked to the comments section to commend Summer for her quick thinking in such a scary situation.
“Smart to not go out there and just call the cops. Scary world,” one person added, followed by another commenter who wrote, “So smart to not have gone out there!! Great instincts!”
A different user noted, “Proud of you for not going out there. I’m in Lansing too and some weird stuff has been happening. I’m glad you did the right thing and called the cops.”
