William Shatner is responding to claims he’s been hospitalized.
Following reports that the Star Trek actor had been admitted to the hospital on Wednesday, Sept. 24, Shatner’s representative Harry Gold gave an update to PEOPLE on how he’s doing.
“I spoke to Bill earlier this evening, He is fine. He is not in the hospital,” Gold said in a statement. “He is at home. He is 100% healthy.”
Shatner also addressed the speculation via X, sharing a meme that said, “Rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated!”
“I over indulged,” he wrote alongside the meme. “I thank you all for caring but I’m perfectly fine. I keep telling you all: don’t trust tabloids or AI! 😉.”

This comes after TMZ reported that Shatner, 94, had suffered a “medical emergency” and was subsequently taken to the hospital. Per the outlet, Gold said Shatner experienced an issue with his blood sugar levels while at his Los Angeles home on Wednesday afternoon.
TMZ also stated that Shatner called an ambulance as a precaution. The actor was reportedly checked out swiftly and was able to return home.

Prior to this, Shatner had opened up about the challenges of living with “permanent tinnitus,” revealing in a video for the nonprofit Tinnitus Quest in June, “My own journey with tinnitus started when I was filming a Star Trek episode called ‘Arena,’ and I was too close to the special effects explosion, and the result was that I was left with permanent tinnitus.”
“And over the years, I’ve had many ups and downs with my tinnitus, and I know from firsthand experience just how difficult it can get,” he added.
As of late, Shatner has been working on his collaborative new book, William Shatner … And You, aimed at celebrating the fans who supported him over his long career. In August, Shatner invited fans to submit their stories “about the ways his work and the characters he has brought to life have influenced their lives,” per the book’s site.
“My greatest joy has been the connection I’ve shared with fans over the years,” Shatner told PEOPLE in August. “William Shatner… And You is a celebration of them: their stories, their passion and the bond we’ve built together.”

Shatner turned 94 in March. At the time, he shared with PEOPLE the touching way he marked the occasion.
“For the last many years, I have celebrated my birthday by working on a very successful charity called The Hollywood Charity Horse Show,” Shatner said. “We have been doing it for 35 years and raised millions of dollars for children and veterans.”
As for other celebratory plans this year, Shatner added, “My family is taking me to Las Vegas for dinner and a show, and then back to Los Angeles. It’s going to be a family experience in that wonderful, entertaining city. I’m really looking forward to it.”
