Teyana Taylor Says She and Aaron Pierre Are ‘Very Secure’ in Their Romance

Teyana Taylor is “secure” in her romance with Aaron Pierre. 

During the Tuesday, Sept. 24 episode of Sherri, the One Battle After Another actress, 34, was asked how she’s been enjoying her “apple pie,” a previously referenced nickname for her beau that uses his initials. 

“I mean Luther [Vandross] said ‘Never Too Much,’ right?” the “Maybe” singer told host Sherri Shepherd before briefly breaking into song. “Never too much apple pie.”

Taylor and Pierre went Instagram official with their relationship in June 2025 after months of flirting with each other on social media.

Taylor went on to add that she gets “all blushy” whenever he’s discussed. 

“I feel good. And it feels good to feel good,” she continued. 

Shepherd, 58, kicked things up a notch by referring to Pierre as “apple pie with a la mode,” and asking her guest how single women can find a romance as sweet as Taylor’s. 

“I think the most important thing is, no matter where you come from, whether it’s a heartbreak, wherever, I think the best thing is to be willing to love unarmored,” the “Bare With Me” singer said. Taylor was previously married to former NBA player Iman Shumpert and confirmed their split in January 2023.

She and her ex-husband are parents to two daughters: Rue Rose, 5, and Iman “Junie” Tayla, 9. 

“I think if you come with a wall built, it’ll block your blessings, you know? And who that person is, may not be who that person was,” Taylor continued. “So it’s kind of like, I walk a straight line, unarmored, and I walk a straight line ready to receive whatever is mine to hold.” 

Next, Shepherd asked the Straw actress about her “sexual chemistry” with the “legendary Leonardo DiCaprio” in One Battle After Another, in which Taylor replied that it was her “job.”

“You can’t tell me that was work, Mama!” Shepherd joked about Taylor’s intense makeout sessions with the Academy Award-winning star, 50. 

However, the “How You Want It?” singer had the perfect response.

“Babe, did you see my apple pie?” Taylor said, emphasizing her appreciation for Pierre. “My eyes are on my prize, okay?”

“My eyes is on my prize, so when I step on set, I’m here to do a job. I’m a team player. We’re all players on this team, and we’re here to win, and we’re here to make magic, so when I get on set, it’s kind of like, ‘When the whistle blow, it’s time to get to work. And I get to work and I go my ass home,” she continued.

Shepherd also asked Taylor how Pierre deals with her intimate on-camera moments.

“I mean, we’re both very secure,” Taylor said. “And when we understand what the prize is, we’re not worried about if anybody is stepping outside of that prize trying to look for another one.”
