Quinta Brunson and Kevin Anik are putting their marriage behind them.

The Abbott Elementary creator, 35, reached a settlement in the pair’s divorce on Monday, Sept. 22, six months after she first filed. According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, Brunson and Anik agreed to an uncontested divorce, eliminating the need for further legal involvement.

The docs state that “the parties entered into a Postnuptial Agreement which governs the disposition of their property,” and they each agreed to pay the attorneys fees. They also listed their date of separation as Dec. 1, 2024, after leaving it undetermined in the initial filing.

Because the former couple made a written agreement outside of court, the exact details of their settlement are not known. However, the declaration indicates that it includes an arrangement regarding spousal support.

Once a judge signs off on the request to finalize the petition, Brunson and Anik will officially be divorced.

In March, Brunson filed to dissolve her marriage to Anik, citing “irreconcilable differences.” They tied the knot in October 2021 and were married for over three years.

The actress opened up about the difficulty of keeping her personal life private during an interview for a Bustle cover story in June. This was the first time that Brunson — who rarely spoke about her relationship during the marriage — addressed the split publicly.

“Even if you don’t give a lot, people want whatever they can get, and will take whatever they can get,” she told the outlet. “I remember seeing people be like, ‘She announced her divorce.’ I didn’t announce anything. I think people have this idea that people in the public eye want the public to know their every move. None of us do. I promise you.”

“No one wants [everyone] to know when you buy a house, when you move, when a major change happens in your personal life — it’s just that that’s public record information,” Brunson continued before adding, “I hate all of it.”

She went on to say that she has gained more experience finding balance as a celebrity over the years, which has taught her to brush off opinions from people who don’t actually know her.

“Those are invisible voices that aren’t in your home with you, that aren’t in your personal life, that aren’t your friends,” she noted. “I love my fans, I love the people who watch Abbott. So you want to hear them, and you want to listen to them, but when it comes to matters of your personal life and decisions you make, you do have to tune it out.”

Brunson further acknowledged that she was in “a transitional time” and was focused on prioritizing herself as she moved forward.

“I think it’s true for me and my personal life, and it’s how I feel about myself, my career, and the world,” she explained. “I feel very serious about focusing on watering my own gardens, taking care of myself and the people around me who I actually interact with day-to-day.”

“I used to look at that as a selfish thing,” she also admitted. “But there’s a reason they tell you to put your oxygen mask on first before you try to help someone else.”
