- He said he has noticed that Pedro Pascal seems to be the latest target of the cycle
Pete Davidson is defending Pedro Pascal from online critics who complain about the star appearing “in everything” now.
On the Tuesday, Sept. 23, episode of Theo Von’s podcast This Past Weekend, the Saturday Night Live alum, 31, opened up about life in the public eye. Von said there are elements of Hollywood fame that scare him, including a cycle where people are built up and then torn down.
Davidson agreed, “They can’t wait, right?” adding that he feels Pascal is the latest example of the trend.
“F—ing two years ago he’s a hardworking, great actor,” he said. “But everyone was like, he’s worked so hard and has been a struggling actor. F—ing blows up so f—ing hard. Everyone’s like, ‘Daddy, daddy! Yeah, daddy, daddy.’ ”
“Then a year later, he’s, like, in everything now ‘cuz he’s hot and big and everyone’s like, ‘Go the f— away, dude,’ ” Davidson said.

“It’s also just like, you got to give someone time to adjust to that new level of fame,” Davidson noted.
“He’s been banging at it for 30 years and now he’s like he’s learning how to go get a cup of coffee or like deal with someone that taps you on the shoulder while you have your earbuds in and freaks you out,” he said. “You got to give that guy a f—ing second to, like, adjust.”
Davidson remarked that he sees the same thing happening to Walton Goggins. “They’re going to do it with Walton Goggins … next,” he said.
“It’s like we build everybody up,” he said. “It’s, like, so fast to turn [on the celebrity].” Von agreed, saying “The turn is crazy.”
“Bro. It’s, like, within months,” Davidson said.

Davidson’s comments come days after Pascal appeared in the trailer for the new Star Wars movie, The Mandalorian and Grogu. Pascal, 50, is returning as the titular helmeted bounty hunter alongside Sigourney Weaver, Jeremy Allen White and Jonny Coyne.
In addition to staying within the Star Wars universe, Pascal also starred in Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: The First Steps. He played Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm/The Thing.
The lead Fantastic Four characters will also star in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday.
In addition to action-packed movies, Pascal has recently starred in more arthouse films, including Ari Aster’s Eddington and Celine Song’s Materialists, as well as season 2 of HBO’s The Last of Us this year.
