Kim Kardashian Says Her Mom Set Her Up on Blind Date but Told Her It Was Job Interview

Kris Jenner isn’t exactly the best matchmaker when it comes to setting up her daughter, Kim Kardashian!

During an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, Sept. 24, Kardashian, 44, revealed how her mom, 69, once set her up on a blind date but told her it was a job interview.

Sharing that the date was before the family’s original reality show, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, was on the air, Kardashian told host Jimmy Fallon that the guy was a “TV executive.”

“She told me it was a job interview, but she told him it was a date,” the SKIMS founder explained. “And so I pull up and I go and I’m talking about what I want to do and I had a résumé on me!”

As Fallon, 51, burst out laughing and buried his head in his hands, Kardashian continued, “I don’t think she thought I’d be so prepared to bring a résumé.”

The mom of four went on to share that she “realized what was up” five minutes into the date and put the résumé back in her purse.

“I was like, ‘I’m going to kill you,’ ” Kardashian added, referencing Jenner, who was sat in the audience.

“Did the date not … no chemistry?” Fallon then asked.

“No,” Kardashian said. “I don’t think he ever knew until like years and years later.”

Fallon went on to ask Jenner what feedback she got from the date.

“He totally knew because he was also an Emmy Award-winning…” Jenner said as Kardashian chimed in, “Mom, can you stop?”

“No, I’m not going to say his name, but he said, ‘Would it help if I brought my Emmy with me?’ ”

Kim’s sister Khloé Kardashian, who was sitting next to their mom, then scoffed and pulled a face as she added, “That’s a red flag.”

“He was kidding,” Jenner clarified. “But I thought, this is never going to work.”

“So you also wanted to set me up with someone that thought an Emmy was what was going to seal the deal? Hmm,” Kim added.

Fallon then asked Jenner if she is still friends with the person.

“I plead the fifth,” Jenner insisted.

And as for whether or not Jenner is going to be setting up her daughter on any more dates, Kim said that she would “trust” her mom’s advice, but Khloé, 41, ruled herself out of that role, joking, “Oh, I’m not a good picker, so…” as the audience laughed.

“Same, babe,” Kim laughed as she pushed her hair back.

Kim has been married three times. She first tied the knot with music producer Damon Thomas in 2000, with the pair finalizing their divorce in 2004. She then married former NBA player Kris Humphries (with the marriage infamously lasting just 72 days) in 2011, before tying the knot with Kanye West in 2011.

The pair, who divorced in 2021, went on to welcome four children together:  North, 12, Saint, 9, Chicago, 7, and Psalm, 6.

Since their split, Kim has dated the likes of comedian Pete Davidson and NFL star Odell Beckham Jr.

During a 2023 appearance on Jay Shetty’s podcast, On Purpose, Kim said that she’ll “always be a hopeless romantic,” despite how her past romances have unfolded.

“I definitely love sharing my life with someone and love creating a life with someone,” The Kardashians star said, before insisting that she is “not lonely.”
